An affordable downtown Shenzhen hotel… I'll stay here again and again!!
My real experience at the St. Regis Shenzhen - a must-read before you check in!
I recently checked out the world's tallest St. Regis hotel in Shenzhen, located in the Kingkey 100 building in Luohu. My overall experience had both high and low points, which I'll share with you here.
Hotel Highlights
📍Excellent location, super convenient transportation
The hotel is incredibly well-located in the Kingkey 100 building in Luohu. It's less than a 10-minute taxi ride from Luohu Station, and there's a subway station nearby (Grand Theater Station), making it very easy to get around. KK Mall is right downstairs for shopping and dining, there's a park across the street, and the MixC shopping area is also close by. Whether you want a leisurely stroll or some retail therapy, it's all within easy reach.
🌟Avant-garde architectural design, stunning views
The design of the entire building is very avant-garde. Although it opened over a decade ago, it still looks modern and has an "old money" charm. The indoor and outdoor views are fantastic. Looking down at the city from up high offers an unparalleled panorama, perfect for taking photos. You can even admire the architectural beauty of the Shun Hing Square.
💤Comfortable sleep experience, thoughtful turndown service
The St. Regis Simmons mattress is truly comfortable, providing an excellent sleep experience. The turndown service is also very thoughtful and welcoming.
🛁High-quality amenities, meeting all your needs
The hotel amenities are top-notch. The shower gel is Sodashi, and the shampoo is Three Tea Officer. Both are excellent and satisfy the need for high-quality toiletries.
Areas for Improvement
💰Average value for money, price is a bit high
While the hotel's price isn't exorbitant for a high-end hotel, the value for money isn't great. Rooms start at 1500+ during the off-season on working days and 2500+ on weekends. This pricing makes the value proposition less appealing.
🥣Breakfast experience was subpar
The breakfast didn't live up to the hype. At 9am on a Saturday morning, there were plenty of empty seats and no queue, but the food was bland. My companions and I agreed that nothing had much flavor; the best things were the jam and yogurt. The Danish pastry wasn't fresh, the fruit wasn't great, and the eggs were overcooked. Overall, the breakfast experience was disappointing.
🧹Service details need improvement
The check-in process was slow, taking almost half an hour. While the service attitude wasn't bad, there's room for improvement in the details. For example, the housekeeping staff knocked only once before entering the room, which didn't fully respect the guests' privacy. Also, the welcome fruit was limited in variety and quantity, which felt a bit stingy.
Overall, the St. Regis Shenzhen offers a high-altitude experience and classic architectural design, making it suitable for guests who want to enjoy the views, have access to corporate rates, or are celebrating a special occasion. However, there's room for improvement in the dining and service details. If you have high expectations in these areas, you might want to reconsider.
