Wat Phra Kaew - Very peaceful temple just on the outskirts of the centre. Beautiful architecture as expected and the inside of the temple is so serene. The emerald Buddha is really quite a sight. “Chiang Khong”, a city on the Mekong River, was our immediate goal. We started our trip by booking tickets, booking cars, booking accommodations, and then flying to Chiang Rai with a promotional ticket on Friday night. We arrived at the airport and picked up the car at #AVISTHAILAND. We stayed the first night in Chiang Rai city at #HomestayHueanChanDee. The next day, we drove to Chiang Khong, enjoying the scenery along the way, and stayed at #FortuneRiverviewChiangKhongHotel. We slept while enjoying the beautiful Mekong River view. We had lunch with northern-style larb and Mekong fish tom yum, followed by coffee at a cafe in Chiang Khong city, and hung out until dinner at #BackHouseTheCafe. After we were full, we wandered around Chiang Khong city at night. We stopped for a quick drink at #ChiangRoi, then went back to sleep to our fill. We woke up early in the morning to give alms to monks by the Mekong River, went to the viewpoint, had breakfast, and went to a coffee shop. Something like that. Just like that, traveling with our friends immediately became a valuable trip. Who said that driving stupidly with friends with an unfamiliar destination is scary? For us, it was very exciting. How fun would it be to make an appointment and go all the way to Chiang Khong to eat steak? How hilarious would it be if everyone turned on GPS, but it took us on a difficult path? And we went that way too. The travel plan was stupid in Chiang Khong. We stopped at any restaurant, ate whenever we were hungry, and went to any viewpoint.
