The eight hands, symbolize the omnipresence and power of Lord Brahma. The glistening Erawan Shrine was erected in 1956, adjacent to the then existent Erawan Hotel to ward off evil and to eliminate the bad karma believed caused by laying the foundations on the wrong date. Today it still glistens like a sacred golden island-emitting positivity, with strong whiffs of incense and flowers and the sound of prayers; almost cutting one off from the monotony of a busy inter junction.
