[Shiga] The best spot in the prefecture to see autumn leaves! Introducing Keisokuji Temple
Keisokuji Temple in Shiga Prefecture was founded by Gyoki in 735, and in the Middle Ages it flourished as a place of prayer for three generations of the Asai clan, lords of Odani Castle, and the Toyotomi clan, with its warrior monks.
It fell into decline at the end of the Edo period, but is now known as Shiga Prefecture's best place to see autumn leaves, with about 200 autumn leaves painting the ancient temple red in autumn.

Nagahama Daidouji Temple near Lake Biwa
I visited this temple when I went sightseeing around Lake Biwa.
This Daidouji temple is a branch temple of the Otani sect of Shinshu (Higashi Honganji), and is popularly known as "Nagahama Gobo" or "Gobo-san."
The surrounding area has a retro atmosphere, so please visit it when you are sightseeing in Nagahama.

Nagahama Tourism
I went to Nagahama, located on the east side of Lake Biwa. Many shops were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the bakery I was looking for was open. Their edamame and bacon bread was really delicious! Nagahama is one of my favorite towns, with a variety of things to choose from in a small area.

Nagahama Gourmet
A restaurant famous for its oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowls) at 8-26 Motohama-cho, Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture.
I was wondering which restaurant to go to in Nagahama Gourmet, but I regretted not having eaten Kashiwa-nabe (chicken hotpot) there more than 15 years ago, so I went here this time. Please note that the opening hours are not very long. They take a break after lunch and open again in the evening.

[Shiga Prefecture] Japan's best kaleidoscope sparkles
📍 Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture
Head to Nagahama, famous for the name Kurokabe Square.
Here are tourist spots such as food tours, souvenir shopping, and photo spots.
The Kurokabe area is also nice, but
the highlight spot I would like to recommend is "Japan's No. 1 Kaleidoscope" 🔭
Completely different from the toy kaleidoscopes I've seen so far, it's just colorful✨sparkly✨
The color and pattern change depending on the amount of light and the angle, so what kind of pattern will appear? That's also one of the fun.
Adults will feel nostalgic, and children will enjoy the mysterious scenery, which can be enjoyed by people of all ages and genders.
Please use this as a reference for your next trip 🔖

#GetDiscountNotDependingOnLuck
A World Heritage Temple that is one of the most important Buddhist temples
in Japan in a city full of
cultural atmosphere like Kyoto
Importantly, it is also the place where the seated Buddha
Yakushi and the 38-meter-high pagoda are enshrined
which, when counted, is
the oldest building in Kyoto
Because the temple area is very large, covering
the southeastern part of Kyoto
quite a bit, the main building of the temple is located on a hill
It has become a popular hiking trail for

Biwako Restaurant
I went to "Biwako Shokudo" in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture ε"ε"(ノ⸝⸝>ㅁ<)ノ
It's a restaurant where you can eat Shiga Prefecture's B-class gourmet "toriyasai nabe" and there are a lot of motorcycle customers ✿゚❀.(*´▽`*)❀.゚✿
There was a line and I think I waited 4.50 minutes?
#Chicken and vegetable hotpot for 6 people
Large serving of rice
Additional hotpot menu
3 servings of chicken
3 servings of pork
3 servings of ramen noodles
3 servings of udon noodles
Ordered (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)
Came in 2 pots, 3 servings each ε٩(๑>ω<)۶з
It seems that you can separate the pork and chicken, but this time I had them mixed equally (*´ч ` *)
The meat is at the bottom, and on top of that is a mountain of Chinese cabbage ∑(º ロ º๑)❢❢
When it becomes limp and the mountain of Chinese cabbage is about the same height as the pot, it's ready to eat Ψ( 'ч'♡ )
The miso flavor is a little spicy, so it goes really well with rice (^∪^/🍚)
Even though it's spicy, it's only a little, so even small children can eat it (๑⃙⃘´༥`๑⃙⃘)
When the ingredients are almost gone, put udon in one side and ramen in the other to finish off the meal (〃艸〃)♡

*Family Statue (Nagamasa Toshi)**
The happiest thing in 2024 was going to Miko! The Family Statue (Nagasaki Toyo City) is a great place for a family outing, with large lawns and amusement facilities that are perfect for kids to play. In spring, the cherry blossoms in the park are in full bloom and are really beautiful, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely time in nature, bringing a picnic here is definitely a good idea.

[Shiga Prefecture] Keisokuji Temple
#DomesticTrip
Keisokuji Temple (formerly Hanpukuji Temple) in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture, is a Tendai sect temple founded by Gyoki in 735 and rebuilt by Saicho in 799.
In the Middle Ages, it flourished as the center of the Hubei Buddhist cultural sphere, but it declined and the main hall was burned down in 1933.
Nowadays, it is known as a famous spot for autumn leaves, with about 200 maple trees turning vibrant colors in the fall.
The "red carpet" of fallen leaves that spreads along the approach to the temple is particularly spectacular, and many tourists visit every year.
This photo was taken in December when the autumn leaves were nearing the end of their season, but it was still spectacular.

[Shiga] A relaxing cafe with delicious sweets
#GourmetTrip
I went to Carry Room, a cafe in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture.
They have a wide variety of sweets, and they're delicious.
You'll want to try them all at this cafe.
・Crème brûlée
・Cream puffs
・Roll cake
・Cheesecake
・Brownies
・Pumpkin pudding
The prices are reasonable, ranging from 350 to 450 yen. I ordered brownies, crème brûlée, and blended coffee.
The coffee and sweets dishes were all different and cute. The interior of the store has cute interior decor and comfortable sofas, so you can spend a relaxing time.

[Shiga Prefecture/Nagahama City] A locally famous coffee shop that uses milk

I went to Ibukiyama Coffee Shop on the second floor of Monde Coeur, which is directly connected to Nagahama Station, for breakfast.
For an additional 180 yen on top of the drink price, you can get a morning set, which includes toast, salad, and eggs.
They also have a wide variety of other menu items, including sandwiches and coffee soft serve.
Ibuki Milk, which comes from dairy cows raised at the foot of Mt. Ibuki, is so famous that it is used in local school lunches!
The taste of "Ibukiyama Milk Coffee" allows you to enjoy the flavor of nature, which can only be found in this area.
In addition to coffee, the cafe au lait made with milk is also recommended. #CoffeeShop #Nagahama

They also make sweets in-house, and offer Western-style pastries such as cheesecake, almond cake, canelés, and florentines.
A cup of coffee is 500 yen, and cakes are around 450 yen, so it's great value for money.
In the small, cozy shop, you can read books, talk, and spend a relaxing time at #coffeespecialtyshop.

[Go here] A hidden shrine with a beautiful ginkgo tree that is over 300 years old that suddenly appears in a residential area ⛩️
I found a hidden gem of a ginkgo tree and a shrine!
Today, I'd like to introduce "Amanogawa no Mikoto Shrine" in Nagahama City.
It's a shrine that you definitely can't read the name of at first glance😅
The ginkgo tree that grows in the precincts is a magnificent ginkgo tree with a thick trunk, and is a prefecture-designated natural monument✨
The yellow carpet that fell from the ginkgo tree and the leaves that were still on the tree dyed the whole area yellow, and it was a truly picturesque sight🖼️
It's a sight that can only be seen because of the large tree and the large number of leaves💡
I don't think anyone would go just to see this!
About a 10-minute drive from here, there is a spot called "Keisokuji Temple" where you can see a spectacular carpet of maple leaves🍁
This is one of the most spectacular autumn foliage views you'll want to see in your lifetime‼ ️
Please go there as a set!

[Go here] A rare road lined with Enkianthus campanulatus, a rare sight in Japan ✨ A hidden gem of a spot for viewing autumn leaves with a beautiful garden 🍁
Although it is so beautiful, there is a really hidden spot for viewing autumn leaves!
That is Oumi Kohoan in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture.
It was originally a Rinzai sect Daitokuji temple founded in the late Edo period to mourn the soul of Kobori Enshu, one of the three great tea masters along with Sen no Rikyu and Furuta Oribe.
The fiery red Dodantsu azaleas growing along the side of the approach and the autumn leaves of the maples in the garden are very beautiful✨
There are two gardens, one of which is a stroll-style pond garden modeled after the Eight Views of Omi, and the other is a simple rock-arranged dry landscape garden🪴
This place is located away from the city, and is a relaxing spot for viewing autumn leaves where you can only hear the sounds of nature🍁
It can only be reached by car, so it is one of the least crowded spots for viewing autumn leaves in Shiga, allowing you to enjoy the autumn leaves in a more peaceful atmosphere🥰
Why not visit this place this fall!
The best time to see the autumn leaves is mid to late November
No visits are possible on November 16th and 17th ⚠️

[Autumn leaves special] The quiet temple grounds are dyed red with autumn leaves, creating a spectacular sight 🍁 This year, you can even get there without a car 🚍
One of the most beautiful autumn foliage spots in Shiga Prefecture! ️
Today, we will introduce "Keisokuji Temple" in Gennagahama City, Shiga Prefecture.
The sight of the fallen red maples dyeing the uphill approach to the temple is very beautiful and has become very popular. ✨
It is one of the most spectacular views that camera lovers want to capture on camera at least once. 📸
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Keisokuji Temple required reservations in advance.
However, this year, you can go without making a reservation. 😍
For better or worse, it's nice to be able to go on short notice!
And, only on Saturdays and Sundays during the acceptance period from November 8th to November 27th, a circular bus will run from Kinomoto Station to Keisoku-ji Temple 🚍
It's now more accessible than ever ✨
Fee: 500 yen/person
It's hard to get around the autumn leaves in Shiga without a car, but it's great that you can get there by public transportation 😄
[Access tips when going by car]
If you're going by car, even if you set your destination as "Keisoku-ji Temple", you'll get lost on the route
In fact, you can't go directly to Keisoku-ji Temple by car 🙅
There are two entrances to Keisoku-ji Temple, but the recommended one is the "Ishido-ji Temple" side!
You can also enjoy the autumn leaves at Ishido-ji Temple!
Set your car navigation system to "Ishido-ji Temple" 🅿️
That's it!
How about it!
It's a spectacular view that you'll want to see at least once, so why not visit here? ?

Retro Stroll | Walking around the town in a kimono
↓Recommended for these people! - I like retro
- I want to know where I can wear a kimono👘
- I want to spend my weekends and travels relaxing and leisurely
--------------------------------------------------
[Retro Stroll's Thoughts🕰️] Retro Stroll was started with the desire to make people feel that "old" is "beautiful" and stop to look at it.
There are many wonderful historic buildings in Japan, but they are difficult to maintain and are often demolished.
Not only buildings, but also traditional Japanese things and techniques.
I hope that this will be an opportunity for as many people as possible to look at old things again before they disappear from Japan.
If you find a place that catches your eye, please take a retro stroll and take a break!

[Nagahama, Shiga] Recommended spots for solo travelers to enjoy eating and walking
#100 Travel Style
I went to Nagahama City in Shiga Prefecture, which I had always wanted to visit. The central area is concentrated within a 10-minute walk from JR Nagahama Station, so it was easy to visit.
The area known as Kurokabe Square is home to a glass museum that sells many of Nagahama's famous glassworks, as well as a music box museum, and is a very photogenic place. It seems that you can also experience making things by hand, so I would like to try that next time.
There are also many foods that are perfect for eating on the go, and the curry bread filled with Omi beef that is served fresh was especially delicious. The specialty mackerel somen noodles were also delicious.
On the opposite side of the station from Kurokabe Square is Nagahama Castle. It was closed on the day I went, so I would like to go again someday♩

This is a long-standing yakiniku restaurant in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture
I guess it's known to people outside the prefecture, but a friend who came to visit from Miyagi requested to go here, so we went!
Inside the restaurant, there are tables where the meat is grilled on an old-fashioned hot plate, and there is also a tatami-mat seating area where you can sit and eat.
We made a reservation so we were able to sit down, but the restaurant was already full by 6pm. They have a wide variety of meats, and they even have hamburgers, which is rare for a yakiniku restaurant!
All the meat, including the Chateaubriand, was delicious, very tender and amazing!
We finished off with a Shine Muscat parfait, and were very satisfied with this restaurant! #NagahamaCity#NagahamaGourmet #NagahamaYakiniku

[Shiga] Play and learn! Experience the future at the YANMAR Museum in Nagahama
The YANMAR Museum in Nagahama is a unique spot where you can experience Yanmar's history and latest technology.
There are plenty of exhibits to see, touch, and learn about Yanmar's work in a wide range of fields, including agriculture, marine, and energy.
The "driving simulator" and "miniature heavy machinery operation experience" are particularly popular with children, and are attractive because they allow you to learn while you play.
The museum also has exhibits that consider future energy and sustainable technology, making it a fun way to learn about the environment.
The museum, which can be enjoyed by both adults and children, is attracting attention as a new destination for tourism in Nagahama.

[Shiga] From Nagahama! White gyoza x Italian fried noodles restaurant "Chashin"
The popular "White Gyoza Italian Yakisoba" in Nagahama is a local gourmet dish that allows you to enjoy a unique combination.
The restaurant is called Chashin Ekimae Branch.
White gyoza is a distinctive gyoza with a thick, chewy skin filled with plenty of filling, and is fried to a crispy texture that is irresistible.
The combination of these gyoza and Italian yakisoba creates an exquisite harmony.
The yakisoba is coated with a tomato-based sauce, which adds a touch of Italian flavor, which is refreshing.
This menu, which allows you to enjoy the deliciousness of both gyoza and yakisoba at the same time, is popular with locals and tourists alike.
It was a dish that allowed me to discover a new taste of Nagahama.
