I didn't know about the Hikiyama Festival until I came to Nagahama. It seems to be a very traditional festival, so I went to the Nagahama Hikiyama Museum. Actual floats are on display, and I was surprised by their power and size! The construction is delicate and the gorgeous decorations are wonderful. The exhibits were beautiful and I was able to learn about the history. I'd like to see the Hikiyama Festival in person next year.
