Chiang Mai Wanderlust | The best market to visit
First stop of the New Year 2024!
Recreating the immersive tour of the popular JJ market led by senior sister from Thailand, revealing some real feelings.
🎫Business hours
Weekend large market (outdoor mobile stalls) 6:00-14:00, fixed storefronts also open on weekdays (8:30-21:00)
🚗Transportation strategy
Bolt taxi: about 70 baht from the hotel at the north gate of the old city, traffic control at the entrance of the weekend market
Double bar car: JJ market-old city area one-way 50 baht/person
Market culture is a microcosm of a city's culture. At JJ Market, you can find uniquely designed clothing accessories, exquisite ceramic utensils, hand-woven fabric products, and local specialty food coffee.
📌Play Tips
1, Route: We toured in a counterclockwise route, from the straw weaving shop-coffee car-central crafts-farmers market-food center
2, The market's main hand-woven cotton and linen clothing is dazzling, but compared to the night market, it wins in boutiques, and it is more pleasing to the eye. There are several independent designer brand shops that are eye-catching, with high prices, and single items are 900+ baht
3, The farmers market in the central area has a lot of fresh organic fruits and vegetables, and the prices are more expensive than the Mumbai market
4, There are many stylish coffee cars, and if you don't like coffee, you can also find iced desserts like me
5, The curry pork skewers in the food center must be bought!! Compared to the half-cooked barbecue at the night market, it's really delicious here that moved me
6, There are many beautiful woven bags, canvas bags, straw sandals, completely arousing girls' desire to shop
7, The JJ market flag is next to a hat stall on the left side of the main entrance
🍭Overall, Chiang Mai's JJ Market has a shadow of Japanese Wabi-Sabi style, clean and tidy, very suitable for taking pictures + exploring, lively and full of local cultural atmosphere, it is the most satisfying market for my trip to Chiang Mai~
