Kao Hong Market: Bang Pla Ma: Suphan Buri 🐾📸
The old shophouse market, over 100 years old, was built during the early reign of King Rama V from 1906-1936. 🙀 It is a row of wooden houses along the Tha Chin River. It was built by "Mr. Boonrod Liangphanit" or Mr. Hong or Jeh Krod, as the locals called it. It used to be the center of trade and transportation of Suphan Buri. It was quiet for a while before the community joined hands to revive it and bring it back to life again. 👏👏👏
The name of the Kao Hong Market comes from the Kao Hong house, which was the house of Khun Kamhaengrit, the community leader in the past. The market is divided into 3 sections: Upper Market, Middle Market, and Lower Market. There are many things to buy and sell. There are also interesting things such as the Thieves Watch Tower, built in 1934. It is a brick and mortar tower 3 x 3 meters wide and about the height of a 4-story building. Each floor has holes drilled in it for looking for thieves. Which was abundant in the past
