Khao Soon Sea of Mist Viewpoint @Nakhon Si Thammarat
Khao Sun is a mountain in Village No. 9, Tambon Mai Riang, Amphoe Chawang, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, 15 kilometers southwest of Phu Khao Luang. To the north is in Tambon Kraphiat, to the south and east is in Tambon Mai Riang, and to the west is in Tambon Khlong Se.
Khao Sun is a forest area with rubber trees planted all the way to the top of the mountain. Some areas are fruit trees. The terrain is a high mountain range alternating with valleys. The northern canal flows into Khlong Chai, which connects to the Tapi River. The western canal flows into Khlong Khan, which connects to the Tapi River. The eastern and southern canals flow into Khlong Se, which connects to the Tapi River. Khao Sun has three other mountains: Noen Luk Krok, Khuan Fai Mai, and Khao Khwang.
Khao Sun is 510 meters above sea level. On the top of the mountain is a telecommunications relay station. A 7-kilometer asphalt road was built up the mountain in 1965. In the morning or after rain, there is a sea of fog covering the entire area. Khao Sun is now a historical tourist attraction. After the mine was closed in 1981, there is a sea of fog in the southern region. You can see the view and fog 360 degrees and the weather is good all year round.
