Zuppa A local restaurant in Hachinohe, Aomori
#MarchGoodPlaces2025
✓Address: 1 Tsutsumicho, Hachinohe, Aomori 031-0051 Japan
✓Opening hours: 1800-2400
✓Atmosphere/Facilities: I unexpectedly came across a small restaurant called "Zuppa" in Hachinohe, Aomori. The American country-style wooden door decoration made it feel very friendly.
The menu is written on the blackboard on the wall. Although it is all in Japanese, it is not difficult to translate it using Google Translate. It is quiet but friendly. I really like this dining environment.
✓Features: The restaurant is run by one person, with a total of twelve tables. All ingredients are sourced from Aomori, with an emphasis on naturalness and the original flavor of the ingredients, which are attentive and delicious.
We ordered two appetizers and two main dishes: pork country liver pate bread, Iwate octopus avocado salad, Aomori shorthorn beef shoulder triangles, and handmade ink-smoked wide noodles.
The taste and seasoning are quite delicate, and you can taste the chef's pursuit of belief. Paired with a glass of mellow wine, it is perfect.
✓ Price per person: ¥3000-4000 yen
✓ Rating: 4.5 stars (out of 5)
It is really a pleasure to be able to eat such carefully prepared and delicious natural local ingredients in Hachinohe, a corner of northeastern Japan. Zuppa, a delicious dish well worth a visit.

[Hachinohe] A treasure trove of cheap and fresh seafood🦀🐟✨
[Yashoku Center]
I love it💕
Fresh seafood is so cheap✨
There are so many shops, it's fun to be able to choose from a wide variety♪
I thought it was just a typical local market, but it also has a wide variety of souvenirs and side dishes, and you can eat scallop skewers while walking around, grill seafood and meat over charcoal at the shichirin village, and eat sushi and seafood bowls.
It's like a market theme park⭐️
My favorite is [Shimamori Fresh Fish]
They deliver it to you.
"I'll choose and send you the best ones when I catch them for the same price," they said, so I waited with half expectation and half anxiety, and the crabs and scallops I received were much better than I expected❤️
You can also include Matsumae pickles purchased from other stores⭐️
The best Hasshoku Center, highly recommended🎶

[Hachinohe] Beautiful ✨ Extremely popular pickled flounder bowl ✨
Aomori Hachinohe [Minato Shokudo]
No smell at all, just the right amount of marinated fresh flounder 🎶 The taste is elegant ✨
The squid is a soft type cut crosswise.
I arrived at 9:30 and thought there was not much of a line, but
I filled out a reservation slip for the day and waited for a phone call.
In the end, I was called at 11:00.
At 11:30, a sign was posted saying that the day was over, so I recommend getting up early ⭐️
💰Price per person: Hirata Zuke Donburi 1250 yen (includes soup and appetizers such as yam)
📍Location: 45-1 Kubo, Minatomachi, Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture
Opening hours 6:00-14:00
Closed Sundays and Mondays
Parking lots 2, 6, and 7 next to the restaurant are reserved for Minato Shokudo, but there are also paid parking lots nearby

[Kabushima] Aomori Black-tailed Gulls and Shrines ⛩
Kabushima Island is located in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture.
You can get there by train and see black-tailed gulls.
When you arrive on the island, you can hear the cries of black-tailed gulls.
It seems that there are fewer black-tailed gulls depending on the season🐦
The sea is also very beautiful✨
One thing to note is that there are only 1-2 trains per hour,
so it's a good idea to check the timetable in advance!

I guess it's a well-known restaurant around here
so I decided to have lunch here.
I had fried shrimp and cream croquette
It was crispy and delicious!!
The rice, miso soup, and pickles that came with the lunch set were also great, so I had seconds.

"Tanesashi Coast" is a well-known tourist destination 👉🏻 A good place where you can see the unique rugged scenery of the Umiwan Coast and the coexistence of natural lawns and seaside plants 😍😍
There is a 5.2km trail between Ashizaki Observatory and Tanesashi Natural Grassland… It is a walking and running route with beautiful scenery along the way😎😎
The coast is lined with natural green lawns, where many Japanese families have leisurely picnics, which is also the most classic landscape of Sanriku Fukko National Park.

Kabushima Shrine in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture
This is Kabushima Shrine in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture. ⛩
Kabushima Shrine enshrines Benzaiten and has long been worshipped by local people as the guardian deity of prosperous business and safe fishing. The "Kabuagari Hyotan Omamori" charm is popular because the "Kabu" in Kabushima and the "Kabu" in Kabushima are pronounced the same. It is also a breeding ground for black-tailed gulls and has been designated a national natural monument. 🕊

~Hachinohe is a city of books📚~
📍Hachinohe, Aomori
.
The last post from my trip to Aomori!
The last one is a slightly unexpected sight of Hachinohe.
.
Hachinohe City is promoting itself as a city of books as part of its urban development.
I could see this all over Hachinohe😌
.

It was a cozy space.
It's a business hotel, but don't underestimate it🧐

It's said to be a base for a life with books.
The stylish facility also has hammocks😲
I read a book there while relaxing👌

Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture.
A city that boasts one of the largest catch volumes in the country,
and where seafood is delicious🐟
.
When that happens, the market is something you can't miss!
In Hachinohe, there is a market called [Hasshoku Center]
and very fresh ingredients were gathered◎
A market like this is exciting😆

We tried the "Nokke Don"🍴
You choose your favorite sashimi and have it made into a seafood bowl👌

[Wandering Northeast Japan] The habitat of the black-tailed gull, the sea-friendly Wushima Shrine
[Wandering in Northeast Japan] Roshima Shrine, where you can get close to seagulls
The Roshima Shrine in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture, sits on Roshima. Built that year for peace at sea and abundant fishing, one of the amulets was also very popular because the transliteration of the word "wu" (kabu) in Wudao is the same as the stock pronunciation. Unfortunately, the shrine was damaged by a fire in November 2015. The original site is being renovated to prohibit visitors and is not expected to reopen until 2020. However, the nearby waterfront park can still be visited, and operations at the shrine have been moved to temporary stalls nearby.
The blessing of the black-tailed gull
The Roshima Shrine is at the same time a habitat for tens of thousands of black-tailed gulls. All the white dots in the picture are actually black-tailed gulls, can you count how many?
According to All About Japan, being "air raided" by a black-tailed gull is actually a good intention, and if you are "hit" to the tourist information office there is a commemorative plaque to prove it. However, if you want to protect yourself, it is best to wear an umbrella to protect yourself.
How exactly do you pronounce the word 島?
Many people misunderstand the word "嶋" as the word "鳩". In fact, the correct pronunciation is "岛" (dou2), which means "岛". In addition, "嶌" and "㠀" have the same pronunciation and meaning. Artist Hina Kojima is also pronounced in the same way.

🇯🇵 Japan | Aomori’s Most Underrated Sakura Spot: Hachinohe 🌸
#cherryblossom25
Hachinohe is seriously underrated for cherry blossom viewing. The full bloom + petal showers here are almost as breathtaking as Hirosaki Park—but without the crowds! The only downside? Public transport can be inconvenient since the must-see spots are scattered, so plan your bus schedules well or consider a car rental or private driver.
📍Getting There:
Departed early morning from Aomori Station → took the private railway to Hachinohe Station.
Got lucky—a friendly private driver (@Aomori Car Rental) picked me up from the station and drove me to the parks (free of charge!), saving a ton of time and effort.
🌸 Cherry Blossom Spots in Hachinohe:
Hachinohe Park (八戸公園)
Huge park with cherry blossoms in full bloom + petal showers
Includes a children’s amusement park and even monkeys 🐒
Stunning, quiet, and crowd-free—perfect for long walks and photo sessions
Met two kind local ladies who later gave me a lift to more attractions!
Shinoda Park (新井田公園)
Beautiful blooms, highly recommended during peak season
Great alternative if you want a more relaxed, local vibe
Tatehana Park (馆鼻公园)
Was said to be the best at first, but bloom status can vary—always double-check

Aomori Cherry Blossoms and Ocean Healing at Sotogahama Coast 🌸🌊
#cherryblossom25
In May, the trees around Oirase Gorge still weren't fully green, but with the perfect weather yesterday, I decided to do a hiking day along Sotogahama Coast. Let me share my full day itinerary!
Morning in Aomori 🌅
Started the day capturing the cherry blossoms and snow-capped mountains in Aomori. 📸
Traveling to Sotogahama Coast 🚉
After returning to Aomori Station, I grabbed a Sotogahama Coast route map from the tourist information center.
11:05 AM: Took the train from Aomori Station to Shin-Aomori Station (11:27 AM).
11:52 AM: Took the train from Shin-Aomori to Hachinohe Station (12:15 PM).
12:24 PM: From Hachinohe to Sotogahama Coast Station (12:57 PM). 🚂
Afternoon at Sotogahama Coast 🏖️
13:00 - 15:00: I went on the coastal hike around Sotogahama Coast. Passed by beautiful grasslands (natural lawns), pine forests, white beach bathing areas, and Osuga Coast. 🌿
You don't have to walk on the beach, as there are grassy fields and reed swamps to explore instead. 🌾
Took a break at a cafe with an ocean view, where I highly recommend trying their delicious ice cream! 🍦.
Captured more scenic shots at the viewpoint
Evening Exploration 🌅
15:46 PM: Took the train from Sotogahama Viewpoint Station to Uwajima Seaside Park Station (15:55 PM), where I visited Uwajima Shrine. 🏯
16:54 PM: From Uwajima Station to Hachinohe Station (17:18 PM).
17:30 PM: Train ride from Hachinohe to Shin-Aomori Station, finishing my coastal adventure by 17:54 PM. 🚋

Sakura Serenity in Miyagi Kōen
#aprilblooms
Nestled in the heart of Hachinohe, Miyagi Park 🏞️ offers a tranquil escape where history and nature meet. Once the site of Hachinohe Castle 🏯, this peaceful 1.6-hectare park features an observation deck 🌄, playground 🛝, and wide open lawns perfect for relaxing.
From late April to early May, around 50 cherry trees 🌸 come alive with soft pink blooms, filling the air with beauty and calm. Locals gather under the blossoms for hanami 🍱, enjoying picnics and the fleeting magic of spring. The view from the hilltop is especially lovely, with petals floating gently on the breeze 🌬️.
Whether you're strolling hand in hand 🤝, capturing the moment on camera 📸, or simply soaking in the peaceful vibes, Miyagi Park is a hidden gem for sakura lovers.
Come for the blossoms, stay for the serenity. 🌿✨

A Blossoming Oasis: Sakura Viewing at Hachinohe Park, Aomori
As Hachinohe’s premier green space spanning 37 hectares, Hachinohe Park transforms into a floral wonderland each spring, drawing visitors to its 2,000 cherry trees that burst into bloom from late April to early May. Stroll beneath cascading branches of somei-yoshino, wild yamazakura, and double-petaled yaezakura that frame the park’s nine distinct zones—from the arboretum’s rare tree collection to the playful amusement area with its rollercoaster, and the unique animal pasture where Japan’s northernmost monkey troop resides. The park’s scale allows for serene hanami picnics away from the crowds, though the sakura-lined central pathways remain lively with photographers and families celebrating spring. For a magical twist, visit at dusk when select trees are illuminated, casting petals into shimmering relief against the twilight.
Local tip: Pair your visit with Hachinohe’s famed senbei-jiru (rice cracker soup) from nearby vendors, or time your trip for the Hachinohe Sakura Festival featuring traditional performances under the blossoms.

[Aomori] There is also a bus to Hachinohe Ferry Terminal - Hon-Hachinohe Station
#0yentravel
Hon-Hachinohe Station is located a little distance from Hachinohe Station, and the surrounding area has a calm atmosphere. The station itself is small, and it gives the impression of being used by locals. There are shopping streets and restaurants scattered around the area, and you can feel the local culture of Hachinohe. This station is also easily accessible to Hachinohe City, and is a convenient location as a transportation hub to tourist spots and hot springs. There is a bus stop near the station, so public transportation is very convenient. There is also a bus to the ferry terminal to Tomakomai, which is convenient for travelers.

Japan 🇯🇵 Aomori, fresh! high quality! Seafood Market
The "Hachinohe Center", which is only 12 minutes away from JR Hachinohe Station, provides a new experience of the seafood market. You can buy fresh fish, shrimp, shellfish and crabs on site and grill them in Qili Village. There is also Aomori Prefecture Wagyu and various grilled skewers. All ingredients can be freely selected, finally eliminating the worry of not being able to bring cheap seafood back to Taiwan~
✅ Cheap fresh seafood
Most of the seafood is freshly prepared and shipped from the port that morning. A whole red snow crab is ¥1,300, and a plate of three seasonal hairy crabs is ¥1,000, which is quite cheap! If the boss sees you bringing a basket from Qili Village to buy something, he will help you clean it so that you can bake it directly in the oven.
✅ Qili Village charging method
Adults ¥500, elementary school students ¥200, and toddlers are free. The meal time is two hours! After you have secured your seat, you can carry your green basket to the market to buy ingredients!
✅Buy all the souvenirs at once
The Hassok Center not only sells seafood, but also has nearly 70 stores selling a wide variety of Aomori specialties and souvenirs. You can eat your fill and return home with a full bag. A half-day trip to the Hassok Center is highly recommended.

A trip to Aomori to try some delicious food
Apple ● Apple pie, scallops, mackerel, rice cracker soup
Tuna, Igamenchi, keno soup...I missed out on the milk ramen, so I had ramen at the end.
When I googled Hachinohe, I found this ramen shop...
Ramen created by a 70-year-old dashi specialty store
Choose from 3 types of dashi: bonito, dried sardine, or kelp dashi. Choose the thickness of the soup: rich or light.
I ordered each with a different dashi.
The ramen, which was painstakingly made by a dashi professional, was delicious!! It was a very satisfying last meal in Aomori.
