Some time ago we made a big road trip through Eastern Europe during the cozy season and loved it a lot! Places were a lot emptier and overall it was sooooo affordable (we often stayed at good hotels for only 30€ a night because of the off season). Skradinski Buk Waterfall, located in the southernmost part of Krka National Park. Take the gravel trail from the Skradin entrance, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Krka River along the way to the Skradinski Buk Waterfall, the southernmost part of the park. Walk across the wooden bridge to view the waterfall, go up the mountain from the right side of the waterfall, pass an unknown historical building, and then follow the educational wooden plank trail around the waterfall. From various viewing platforms, overlook the stepped waterfall group upstream, enjoy the beautiful scenery from different angles, and marvel at the wonders of nature. There is a folk village by the river. The museum’s pictures and models show the introduction of the waterfall and the use of water power, as well as some retro old water wheels and traditional handicrafts. There are various restaurants, cafes, ice cream and souvenir shops in the park, as well as many small vendors selling local specialties and fruits, providing convenient services. It is really inconvenient for tourists to just buy a ticket to enter the park, but still have to pay to use the toilet. I really hope the management center can study and improve it.

Roski waterfall in Krka National Park is the largest beach waterfall in Europe, over 45 meters high and 120 meters wide. It consists of a series of limestone barriers, waterfalls, islands and lakes of different heights and widths, forming a natural stepped water curtain. The waterfall itself looks ordinary, but the whole scenic area is very natural and has a wild beauty. Especially the wide travertine pool shallows upstream, reflecting the rocky mountains illuminated by the setting sun, are brilliant and dazzling! There are two hiking trails, one leading to the Oziđana pećina cave (which retains the earliest traces of human existence here) and the top of the mountain viewing platform, both are excellent! Friends who like hiking will like this place. There are also restaurants, shops and folk villages here, showing the wise use of water power by our ancestors. The waterfall can be reached by foot from the entrance in Lozovac or Skradin, which takes about an hour. You can also take a boat directly from the town of Skradin, which takes about 25 minutes. There is a pier upstream and downstream of the scenic area. You can take a boat to the upstream and downstream attractions for only 15 Euros. The journey takes about two hours each.

The Krka River that flows through the park is very clear and beautiful. Croatia really has beautiful water. The emerald blue sparkling water surface is fantastic and mesmerizing. #europetrip Spent a day exploring Krka National Park, and while it was beautiful, I couldn’t help but compare it to Plitvice Lakes National Park—both are quite similar, but Plitvice is definitely the bigger and more impressive park. If you’re short on time, I’d recommend choosing one, and for me, Plitvice wins! 🌊✨ That said, Krka was still a lovely experience! The waterfalls were stunning, and the boardwalk trails made it an easy and scenic walk. Plus, the highlight—getting up close to Skradinski Buk, the park’s famous waterfall.
