On my recent trip to Bangkok, the hotel concierge recommended me to go to a nearby chicken rice store near Palladium World Shopping Centre, it was very easy to find with bright lights and chicken prominently displayed for all to see! The prices were very reasonable at 50 baht or SGD 2 for a plate of chicken rice. The chicken rice was served boneless, it was succulent, juicy and not dry at all! Which was surprising. It was served with a side of chicken broth and a small bowl of homemade chilli sauce, it added the extra flavour that made the chicken rice that much better. The taro milk tea was good too! Kuang Heng Pratunam Chicken Rice is one of the very first few chicken rice that is popular in Bangkok! Located right opposite central world at 930 Phetchaburi Rd, Makkasan, right at the junction of the crossing. They open at 7am in the morning and already started serving their famous chicken rice, the fried chicken batter was so crispy and aromatic while Thier steam chicken is silly smooth! We visited at about 8.30am and you can see that they have tons of orders via pickup. They also have the famous toast which is a popular dessert in Thailand, the soft yet crispy on the outside, while the pandan spread covers the bread. Honestly this is a place to visit! This shop is something we have driven past since we were students. Since the shop was not crowded like this and this is the first time we have tried it on Songkran day. The queue was very long. In the afternoon, the queue was almost 2 rows long. So we chose to go play in the water first and then come back to eat in the evening. In the end, when we came back, the queue was still full as usual. But the staff did not let us wait very long. They worked very fast. And the people who were sitting and eating immediately got up. The chicken was very delicious, well-rounded and soft. Both the fried chicken and the boiled chicken. There were many other menus. And we ordered bitter melon soup to try. Their bitter melon is something that people who do not eat bitter melon can eat. It was excellent.
