The best climbs in Fitz Roy, Patagonia
Patagonia stretches across the border between Argentina and Chile.
Among them, Fitz Roy, which is 3,400m above sea level and is the Patagonia logo, is the best spot.
There are hiking trails and climbing routes, and you can enjoy breathtakingly beautiful scenery.
Many people start walking late at night to see the sunrise, and descend in the morning after the sun has risen.
It's a must-see at least once in your life.

Your Perfect Day in El Chaltén
#cityplaybook
The 24-Hour Challenge: Your Perfect Day in El Chaltén
Morning:
Start before the sun does—grab a quick coffee and pastry from La Chocolatería and hit the Laguna de los Tres trailhead by 6:30 AM. The early light over Mount Fitz Roy is soul-stopping, especially if clouds part just right.
Midday:
After soaking in the glacier-fed lake, descend and treat yourself to a hearty Patagonian lunch at La Cervecería, where hikers refuel with lamb empanadas and local beer brewed with mountain water.
Afternoon:
Take it slow. Walk along the Sendero de los Cóndores, an easier path with dramatic views. If you're lucky, a condor will coast by like a myth in motion.
Evening:
Catch sunset from the Mirador de las Águilas, a short climb with long-lasting colors. Then warm up with dinner at Patagonicus, where the pizza is hot, the wood stove’s burning, and stories flow like Malbec.

How to Live Like a Local in El Chaltén

The Ultimate Neighborhood Hack: How to Live Like a Local in El Chaltén
Wake-up Ritual:
Locals rise with the mountains—early and with purpose. Grab a maté or espresso at Cafe Mathilda, where guides and hostel workers swap trail tips before the day begins.
Morning:
Don’t chase the famous trails just yet. Instead, explore the Laguna Capri route—locals’ favorite for a morning jog or quiet meditation with Fitz Roy as backdrop.
Midday Tradition:
Skip restaurants and pack a lunch. Pick up local cheese and cured meats from El Parador, and picnic by the Río de las Vueltas like the guides do on their day off.
Afternoon Slow-Down:
Visit the small Parque Nacional information center—locals know the rangers by name, and their stories add layers to the mountains. Then grab a mate ice cream at Domo Blanco, a secret spot even Argentinians seek out.
Evening Wind-Down:
End your day with live guitar at Bourbon Smokehouse. Skip the menu—just ask the staff what they’re having. That’s how it’s done.

The Quiet Trails of El Chaltén
#cityplaybook
After the main hikes are done and the trail chatter fades, El Chaltén offers something gentler—slow, soul-level walks that locals know best. Try the Chorrillo del Salto path in the late afternoon when the light slants gold through the lenga forest and the waterfall runs wild yet calm. Or walk the Río de las Vueltas riverbank at dusk, where wind shapes the silence and hares dart through the bushes. No destination, no summit—just you, the breeze, and that ever-present outline of Fitz Roy keeping watch. It’s where the town breathes deepest, and where you realize: not every path needs a peak to matter.

Explore the mountain town of El Chalten, Argentina 🇦🇷
#aprilblooms #argentina #hiking
My visit to El Chaltén was a peaceful escape into nature. Nestled in the Andes, the town was small and charming, with cozy cafés and mountain views in every direction. I spent hours wandering its quiet streets, meeting friendly locals and other travelers. The vibe was relaxed, perfect after long hikes. Even just walking around, the dramatic peaks like Fitz Roy felt ever-present. El Chaltén offered both adventure and calm—every corner of the town felt connected to the wild beauty around it.

Patagonia, Argentina, a paradise for mountaineering enthusiasts
This time, I flew to El Calafate in Argentina to hike in order to create a prototype for the Patagonia logo.
Laguna de los Tres is one of the most popular hiking routes in El Chaltén, Argentina. The hiking route is about 20 kilometers and takes about 8 to 10 hours round trip. The whole process requires adapting to the alpine terrain and changeable weather, but the scenery along the way is well worth the challenge.
This trail is considered a moderate to difficult hike. Although most of the road is flat, there are steep uphill sections near the lake, which require a certain amount of physical strength and endurance. Especially in the last few hundred meters uphill, the road surface is sometimes rugged and some places require climbing using both hands and feet. When you reach the lake, you will see a beautiful panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains, glaciers and the lake, which makes all the hard work worth it.
Note:
In mountainous areas, the weather changes very quickly. It is recommended to dress in an onion style, wear a windbreaker as the outermost layer, and prepare enough water and food. Especially in the fall and winter, when the weather is likely to become colder and windier, it is especially important to prepare windproof and warm gear.
Sightseeing along the way: During the hike, visitors can also enjoy the beautiful views of Laguna Sucia and Laguna de los Tres. The scenery along the way is very rich, ranging from virgin forests, grasslands to glacial lakes.

Before entering El Chalten, don't forget to stop and take a picture of this view.
I drove to El Chalten to go hiking at one of the most famous mountains in the world, "Patagonia". In Patagonia, you can hike to see the Fitz Roy peak on both sides: Argentina and Chile. For this trip, I hiked in Argentina.
The view along the way, just driving, I was amazed by the beauty of the view on both sides. I parked the car on the road to take pictures with the view of the Patagonia peaks. The view is worth millions. Before entering El Chalten village, I stopped to take a picture at the village sign, which was also very beautiful. This village is not very big. Tourists come to stay to prepare for hiking. There are many restaurants and souvenir shops. It was a wonderful vacation.

Approximat
Approximately 230 km between El Calafate and El Charlton, Route 40 extends around the Argentino Lake and is the only road between the two tourist resorts. The special geographical environment of Patagonia creates a unique view, and it is a very happy thing to be able to drive on Highway 40. Although the dark clouds only dispersed in the evening, I finally saw the sunset of the Fitzroy Hill.
