Chiang Mai Beginner's Travel Guide!
Chiang Mai is a charming travel destination in northern Thailand, a quiet yet vibrant place full of things to see and eat. During this trip, I enjoyed Chiang Mai's representative landmarks and festivals, and used various means of transportation to get around comfortably. I'll share the impressions I felt while visiting the flower festival, night market, and Doi Inthanon National Park!
■ Travel route and transportation method
During this trip, I used Grab and Songthaew alternately. Grab is convenient in Chiang Mai, but Songthaew is the best value for money for short distances or near markets!
1. After arriving at Chiang Mai International Airport, use Grab to get to your accommodation
2. Visit Chiang Mai Night Market (on foot + Songthaew)
3. Watch Chiang Mai Flower Festival (by Grab in the city)
4. Tour Doi Inthanon National Park (by pre-booked vehicle)
5. Local food tour and cafe exploration (by Grab and walking)
Recommended Chiang Mai landmarks & hot places
✅ Chiang Mai Night Market
A hot place you can't miss when traveling to Chiang Mai! In particular, **Night Bazaar** and **Sunday Walking Street** are famous, where you can enjoy Thai street food and handicrafts to your heart's content. I visited every evening because I could taste mango sticky rice, skewers, and Pad Thai all at once.
✅ Chiang Mai Flower Festival
**Chiang Mai Flower Festival** held in early February is one of the most famous festivals in Thailand. Parks and streets are filled with gorgeous flower decorations, and you can also see a flower parade. Walking along the flower-scented streets, you will feel truly healed!
✅ Doi Inthanon National Park
This is a national park with the highest mountain in Thailand, and you can see beautiful natural scenery and royal temples. In particular, the **King and Queen Stupa** was so beautiful that it felt like it was floating above the clouds. The terraced rice fields and twin waterfalls are also a must-see!
Chiang Mai was a travel destination that had all three: nature, culture, and delicious food. In particular, the night market, flower festival, and the spectacular view of Doi Inthanon will remain in my memory for a long time. If I go next time, I want to stay a little longer and find some quiet cafes and hidden spots.
