Pang Ung, Mae Hong Son Province
💚 Pang Ung or its full name is Pang Tong Royal Project. The two words Pang means accommodation for people working in the forest. Ung means lowland. When combined, it means "accommodation by the reservoir". This place has been dubbed the "Switzerland of Thailand".
🏕 For those who sleep in tents, the bathroom and shower are next to the parking lot, a little bit away from the tent site, no more than 5-10 minutes' walk.
🏕 For those who are not comfortable sleeping in tents, there are park bungalows nearby for around 1,400 baht. At that time, we rented a house to store our large belongings and use for showering. The location of the house is on the dam, which is close to the rafting service point, but quite far from the tent site. Walking would be tiring, so we had to take a car.
🏕 Near the tent site, there are shops selling things, such as made-to-order food, grilled chicken with papaya salad, or grilled pork for us to enjoy in the cold weather.
🛶 Another activity that you should definitely do when you go to Pang Ung is bamboo rafting to see the atmosphere of Pang Ung. Each bamboo raft can accommodate 2 people, plus the paddler, totaling 3 people. The cost is around 150 baht per raft and the rafting takes about 25-30 minutes.
