The Foundation for the Conservation of Ancient Monuments in the Old Palace, together with the Royal Thai Navy Headquarters, opens "The Old Palace", the old palace of Thonburi, for free admission from December 17-28, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
There are 2 entrances and exits without having to exchange a pass: the entrance in front of the Royal Thai Navy Headquarters and the side door of the wall of Wat Arun.
The "Old Palace" or "Thonburi Palace" will be open to the general public on special occasions during the day of the establishment of His Majesty the King of Thonburi Sri Maha Samut. Normally, they must visit in groups and must submit a request for permission to visit 1-2 weeks in advance. There is a maintenance fee for the place. Adults 100 baht per person, children 50 baht per person.
The Thonburi Palace or the Old Palace is the royal palace of King Taksin the Great, located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. At the mouth of the Bangkok Yai Canal, which is an important strategic point, with a strong fortress that can be observed from a distance and is close to the shipping route at that time.

Inside the Old Palace, there are many important ancient sites, such as the Audience Hall, the Cross-Leg Pavilion, the Paired Pavilion Palace, the Pin Klao Pavilion Palace, the King Taksin the Great Shrine, the Green House Building, the Whale Head Shrine, and Fort Wichaiprasit, which is a fortress on the Chao Phraya River built since the Ayutthaya period.
There are regulations for visiting the Old Palace on special occasions as follows: Thai people can visit for free and do not need to request permission in advance. Foreign tourists are not allowed to visit alone. They must be accompanied by a Thai person or a guide because it is a government office. Dress code: Men should wear shirts with sleeves and long pants. Women should wear shirts with sleeves, knee-length skirts, or long pants. Shorts, short skirts, and flip-flops are not allowed. MRT subway: Get off at Itsaraphap Station, Exit Soi Itsaraphap 34. From the station, turn right until you reach the Pho Sam Ton intersection.
