The hexagonal Basumeng Fortress, at the fork of the Chao Phraya River and a canal, was built during the reign of King Rama I, and together with 13 other fortresses formed the earlier urban structure of Bangkok. The pure white fortress is very beautiful, and the jet black muzzle interprets the majesty of the fortress. The fortress is now located in Santichai Prakan Park, a secluded summer retreat in the sweltering foreign streets of Bangkok. You can sit here for a while and watch the boats passing by on the Chao Phraya River, see the Bangkok teenagers who are skateboarding or dancing here, take a leisurely walk, or simply stay in a daze. During the New Year, temporary tents may be set up here, and it will soon become a New Year's market.
