#thailandtrip The Rayong Aquarium is a small research facility about 25 km from Rayong City. There is a cost to enter but it’s not much (maybe 30 Bath) but it helps to keep the centre active. There are many small tanks with Thai explanations and some rudimentary English-but enough if you speak only English. There is a single larger tank that you kind of walk through and around. At the end of the tanks there are some static displays about a range of sea topics, historical fishing methodologies, shells, sea-and interface, sharks and whales in the area etc. There is a largish carpark, a small souvenir shop and toilets. Its not a big and glamorous aquarium but when you leave you think, “well that was worth it”.

We have been here twice and would go again. The last time I went was during the school break. There were a lot of students on a field trip. After parking in front, I walked in to buy a ticket to enter. Adults 30 baht, children 10 baht, seniors 60 years old and over get in free. Oh, yes, this is the price. 😁😁 When I entered, I saw many different kinds of fish with different faces. It was exciting for both children and adults. There were explanations of each type of animal at various points. But what seemed to be the highlight of this place was the transparent underwater tunnel that made us feel like we were looking at fish and other aquatic animals from under the sea. It was beautiful. The next zone was sharks and various types of shellfish. There were also corals. There were clear explanations about their shape, characteristics, and habitats. It really increased my knowledge. Another zone nearby was about fishing equipment. There were fishing equipment on display, including strange equipment that we don't often see. It was quite an eye-opener. However, a lot of it was damaged. Then I walked up the stairs to the exit. It took me no more than 30 minutes in total. If there was anything that could be improved, it would be that this place might look a bit old. Overall, I highly recommend it. Children should like it.
