Most of the village is the officers and soldiers left by the original 93rd and 95th divisions and their descendants. The Thai government keeps them here without giving them legal status. Most of them do not have ID cards, they have refugee cards, and they need to get a pass when they leave Mae Hong Son. On the way to find the waterfall, I will pass by this village, a place where Chinese Hakka lives. There are Chinese and Chinese everywhere. People generally speak Chinese, and some Chinese-style homestays have also been built.

The Village in the Mist of Pai
‘Santichon Village’ is a small village in Pai district that has been influenced by the culture of Yunnan Chinese who migrated during the Chinese revolution in 1950. At first glance, it resembles Rak Thai Village, but it scores higher in terms of tranquility and numerous photo spots. These include unique orange clay houses, towering gray brick fortresses, woven wooden bridges, and expansive ponds. There are also shops selling tea, tribal costumes, souvenirs, and more.
Don't miss trying Yunnan-style food here. Any random restaurant you pick is guaranteed to be delicious as the recipes are quite similar. We tried eating at ‘Mittraphap Pai’ restaurant, and the must-try dish is the intensely flavored pork leg. When eaten with mantou, it blends perfectly. The serving size is large enough for 2-3 people. The vegetable dishes are also fresh and sweet as if they were just picked from the farm. It's an extremely satisfying breakfast.

Travel in Thailand, Chinese atmosphere @Santichon House, Mae Hong Son
#GetDiscountsWithoutLuck
🏮 Recommend a place to visit in Thailand that feels like you're traveling to China with Ban Santichon, a Yunnan Chinese village in Pai District, Mae Hong Son Province.
🛖 Ban Santichon is only about 4 kilometers from Pai town. It is another cultural tourist attraction. It was originally a village of Yunnanese hill tribe people who migrated to settle in Thailand. However, it has now been developed into a tourist village. The surrounding area has rows of adobe houses, souvenir shops, Yunnan Chinese-style restaurants, herbal shops, and especially tea shops. There are many of them because they are famous products here. They go well with hot steamed buns. 🍵🥟🍵
👘 There is also a shop that rents ancient Chinese clothing starting at 100 baht so you can walk around and take pictures to match the atmosphere. Especially inside the village, it's like being transported to an ancient Chinese palace. It's a great place to take pictures.
🛝 And if you like a little thrill, in the middle of the village there is a wooden swing for tourists to try. Plus, when you go up to the top, you can also see the view from above of Ban Santichon.
