Tokyo Showa Kinen Park-Golden ginkgo trees interweave into a golden tunnel
Tokyo's Showa Kinen Park is an ideal place to admire ginkgo trees, especially in autumn when their leaves turn golden yellow, creating a spectacular sight. There are two main ginkgo avenues in the park. As soon as you enter the park, you can see rows of golden ginkgo trees interwoven into a golden tunnel. The ginkgo trees on both sides shine golden in the sun, attracting many tourists to take photos.
The best viewing period is from early to late November every year. During this period, the leaves of the ginkgo trees will gradually turn yellow and form a golden carpet on the ground, making people feel as if they are in a fairy tale world. In addition to ginkgo, the park also has other autumn flowers and a beautiful Japanese garden, where visitors can take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the beautiful autumn time.
Showa Kinen Park is easily accessible, and is approximately a 10-minute walk from Tachikawa Station.

Attractions: National Government Showa Memorial Park
📍Address: 3173 Midori-cho, Tachikawa City, Tokyo
🕰️Business hours: 9:30~17:00 (until 18:00 on Saturdays)
💰Average consumption per person: ¥450
💞Recommendation reason:
"#National Government Showa Memorial Park" was built in 1983 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Emperor Showa's accession to the throne. Located in Tachikawa City, it covers an area of 160 hectares, an area equivalent to 40 Tokyo Domes, and has different beautiful scenery in each season. In addition to the natural beauty, there are also recreational facilities such as children's play equipment, swimming pools, bicycle paths, boats, barbecue areas, etc.
Transportation Tips: The route with the fewest transfers is to take the Chuo Rapid Line from JR Shinjuku Station. It takes 34 minutes to reach JR Nishi-Tachikawa Station, which is connected to the park entrance, Nishi-Tachikawa Exit, by an overpass. If you get off at JR Tachikawa Station, you will need to walk about 15 minutes to reach the Akebono Exit of the park.
Entering Tachikawaguchi, you will soon arrive at the CANAL area, where ginkgo trees are planted symmetrically on both sides of the fountain. About 200 meters long. The yellow ginkgo leaves covering the road look like a golden carpet, dreamy and magical. Every year, the lights are turned on from dusk, presenting a beautiful view that is different from the daytime.

Showa Memorial Park⛲️
Showa Memorial Park is a national park that opened in 1983 and spans Tachikawa and Akishima in Tokyo.
In spring, there are cherry blossoms and tulips, and in autumn, cosmos.
It's a great place to bring children. There are also cycling courses, slides, boats on the pond, and barbecue spaces.
There are also places you can enter without paying an entrance fee.
There was an IKEA nearby lol
If you go in the fall, the autumn leaves are beautiful 🍁

When you come to Tokyo to enjoy ginkgo viewing in autumn, it takes about 30 minutes from Shinjuku. The "National Showa Memorial Park" in Tachikawa is also a must-see attraction.
It is a beautiful scenery like a ginkgo tunnel. There are about 98 ginkgo trees. The total length is about 300m. It is late November, and there are fallen leaves of ginkgo. Just like the cover of a travel magazine🌟🌟🤩🤩

I went to see the autumn leaves at Showa Memorial Park, a national park in Tachikawa, Tokyo.
There are two ginkgo tree-lined streets in the park.

[Tokyo] National Showa Memorial Park
I visited Showa Memorial Park in April when the flowers were in full bloom.
The weather was nice and the beautiful flower fields were soothing.
There are several ways to get around the large park, such as the park train that runs through the park and rental bicycles.
The park is so vast that it doesn't feel crowded even when there are a lot of people.

Mazesoba specialty store Kagura
[Mazesoba specialty store Kagura]
| Tokyo: 5 minutes walk from Tachikawa station |
Mazesoba Tori (¥ 750)
A shop in Tachikawa, a fierce battlefield for ramen 🍜 You can choose from 4 types of standard Namazesoba (chicken oil, shrimp oil, sardines / dried sardines, and special chili oil).
This time is the most popular chicken! Maybe it's chicken oil, but it's surprisingly light, but it's rich and very delicious 🐓 The thick noodles are perfect, so it's excellent to eat. It's nice to be able to eat a lot of vegetables and meat while mixing soba 🥬 If you continue to eat as it is, you will probably get tired of it, so you should change the taste! The taste-changing items on the table are rich in standard chili oil, garlic, sesame seeds, chin sprinkle, kabosu & yuzu pepper, so you won't get tired of it!
This is addictive 💊 I want to eat again soon!

[Tachikawa State-owned Showa Memorial Park]
#I miss Japanese parks – Japanese parks are mostly big and planned, with lots of rides and big gardens.
One of the parks I visit often is the Tachikawa State-owned Showa Memorial Park.
This park is about a 30-minute drive from Tokyo and has bike paths for cycling, lakes for boating, rides for kids, and in the summer, you can play in the water
The large flower field has different flowers in all seasons. There is a large grassland and a very large tree in the center of the park
While going shopping in Tokyo, you might as well find a half day to go to the park and get close to nature.

Showa Memorial Park (昭和記念公園)
Showa Memorial Park is one of the most breathtaking cherry blossom locations in Tokyo, offering a vast and beautifully landscaped space filled with over 1,500 sakura trees. Located in Tachikawa, this park is a bit farther from central Tokyo but well worth the trip. The park is massive, featuring lakes, cycling paths, flower fields, and even a Japanese garden, making it a perfect destination for a full-day hanami experience. During cherry blossom season, visitors can enjoy picnicking under the trees, renting bicycles to explore the park, or taking a relaxing boat ride. The variety of cherry trees ensures a longer bloom period compared to other spots. While it can get busy on weekends, the park’s size ensures you can always find a peaceful spot. If you're looking for a scenic, family-friendly, and activity-filled hanami experience, Showa Memorial Park is one of the best places to visit.

Must Visit! A Day Trip to Showa Kinen Park
Family and friends, if you're looking for a nature getaway near Tokyo, Showa Kinen Park is definitely the top choice!
In spring, the park is like a sea of flowers. Cherry blossoms bloom like pink mist, and colorful tulips compete to show off their beauty. Every snapshot is a masterpiece. Lay down a picnic mat, enjoy delicious food amidst the floral fragrance, and relax in leisure.
In summer, the park is enveloped in lush greenery. Cool off by the lake, watch the sunlight sparkle on the water, or rent a bike and ride through the forest paths, feeling the breeze on your face.
In autumn, the park dons a new attire of golden and fiery red. Stroll along the leaf-strewn paths, listening to the rustling underfoot, like a unique autumn symphony.
In winter, the park's lights illuminate the cold nights. The dazzling lights outline various shapes, creating a dreamy and romantic atmosphere.
Not only is the scenery picturesque, but there are also numerous recreational facilities and exhibitions. From morning till night, you can enjoy to your heart's content. A day trip here lets you experience the charm of the changing seasons. It's absolutely worth it!

Reminiscent of Tokyo's autumn fairy tale: Showa Memorial Park
#2024TravelReview
The Showa Memorial Park was built in 1983 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Emperor Showa's reign. The park covers an area of 1.65 square kilometers. There are two ginkgo "tunnels" in the park: "Katarai no Ichiou Namiki (98 trees, 300m)" and "Kanal Yanai (106 trees, 200m)" at the Tachikawa entrance, as well as a traditional Japanese garden and pond. From Shinjuku, you can take a direct train to Nishi-Tachikawa Station in as little as half an hour, and Showa Kinen Park is just a 1-minute walk from the station, which is very convenient. The park offers bicycle rentals and a small train service, which makes it easier to explore than on foot.
The most beautiful autumn season is at the end of November. The first choice areas to visit are definitely the Japanese garden and the Ginkgo biloba area. I believe that after seeing the photos, you will feel that there is no reason not to come here in autumn. There are also limited-time lighting events at night during the autumn leaf season!

I visited
I visited Showa Memorial Park on November 29th. It was about half an hour from Shinjuku Station, which was very convenient. The park is very large and you can spend a whole day walking and strolling here. There are many food and beverage outlets inside, but the prices are high and the taste is average, so it is recommended that you bring your own food for a picnic. The maple leaf season is very beautiful, and because of its vast territory, there won’t be many people. The temperature here is slightly lower than in the city. Most of the ginkgo leaves have fallen, and the maple leaves are red. The maple leaves here are not a large area of maple trees, but rather scattered, but many of them are large, so you can enjoy the tranquility of the park. There is a bicycle path, and many people come to visit the park by bicycle.
