Baan Duenchai, a cafe and museum in the heart of the old city
#GetDiscountsWithoutLuck
If you have the chance to walk around the old town of Songkhla and want to find a comfortable place to sit, sip coffee, eat local fusion food, and soak up the atmosphere of the past, I recommend stopping by “Baan Duen Chai”. The atmosphere of the shop is a two-story wooden house in an old-fashioned yellow-white color, in very good condition. You can tell that the owner took care in restoring it. The building is both classic and warm, like we are sitting in our grandmother’s house, but it is made even cooler with antique collections all over the house, such as antique fans, radios, old kitchenware, stylish wooden tables and chairs, and there is also a zone displaying old photos, old books, and stories about this house for you to walk around and see.
The food here is not just a dessert cafe, but also has serious food and extraordinary flavors, such as Roti Kaeng Hang Lay – roti with crispy outside and soft inside, with a rich and flavorful Hang Lay curry, fragrant with spices, and Sea Bass Stir-fried with Chili and Salt – perfectly spicy, a little salty and a little spicy, eaten with hot rice is awesome. As for drinks, there is coffee, tea, and a signature menu item, such as “Butterfly Pea Lemonade”, which is very refreshing.
