Best Things to DoNo.6 of Best Things to Do in Kagawa Prefecture
Takamatsu Port is a key maritime gateway to the Shikoku region and is notable for being the home port of the Setouchi Triennale. The port is connected to several art islands, such as Naoshima, Teshima, and Shodoshima, with high-speed ferries running between them daily. The port area features three eye-catching permanent art installations: LiminalAir by Shinji Ohmaki, Seed Ship by Shun-ryu Lin, and the glass curtain wall of the passenger terminal designed by Yoshio Taniguchi, which are particularly eye-catching on clear days. The ferry hall has luggage lockers and the Festival Information Center, where visitors can pick up island maps in Chinese and English. The castle tower ruins of Tamamo Park are within walking distance, and it is recommended to go there in the early morning or when the ferry is docked to take in the panoramic views of the port. The breakwater on the west side of the port area is a great spot for an evening stroll, and at low tide, the remains of bollards from the Showa period can be seen.
