Thung Prong Thong, Rayong
Thung Prong Thong is located in the community of Ban Saem Phu, Pak Nam Prasae, Klaeng District. It covers an area of over 6,000 rai, which was originally an area where villagers fished, raised shrimp, farmed, and planted fruit trees. Until the natural resources in this area were destroyed and the mangrove environment deteriorated. Pak Nam Prasae Subdistrict Municipality has collaborated with local villagers to develop the largest mangrove forest in Rayong Province into a tourist attraction for conservation and learning at the same time. By building a nature study bridge for a distance of approximately 2 kilometers. Thung Prong Thong is considered a tourist attraction that provides knowledge and understanding of the mangrove ecosystem. You can see the natural beauty of the mangrove forest, prong trees, and coastal trees. The highlight is the prong trees that grow densely all over the area, reflecting the light green color, creating a uniquely beautiful prong Thong field. The nature study trail is a bridge that stretches for approximately 1 kilometer and ends at Prasae Sea, where the HTMS Prasae is located. If walking, it takes about 1 hour, but most tourists prefer to walk to see only the prong Thong field, which takes only a few hundred meters to walk to. The best time to visit is in the morning and late afternoon, because the atmosphere is not too hot. And it is the time when sunlight shines on the golden leaf, making it bright yellow. This nature trail is considered an area full of mangrove forests. Along both sides of the road, there are many types of plants, such as the Acacia, Black Tabun, Lamphun, Rhizophora, Red Prong, and Golden Prong. It is a habitat, shelter, and nursery for aquatic animals that like to live in mangrove forests, such as shrimp, shellfish, fiddler crabs, and climbing fish.
The wooden bridge winds through the mangrove forest for about 200 meters, and then you will reach the Golden Prong Field, which is full of densely packed Prong trees. The light green and yellow Prong leaves are so dense that you can barely see the ground below. When the leaves are hit by sunlight, they reflect a bright gold color, filling the entire field. At the viewpoint in the middle of this Prong field, you can see a panoramic view, as if you were surrounded by a golden field, contrasted by the dark green edges of the mangrove leaves that surround it.
In the Golden Prong Field area, there is a viewing terrace where you can see the Golden Prong Field from a high angle, spreading far and wide. It is considered a viewpoint that has created an impression of many people who have come to experience the beauty of the nature of this golden prong forest.
