The eleven-faced statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva is a cultural property. In short, I highly recommend a visit to Uji. Along the streets of uji, there are many local street food vendors selling traditional Japanese matcha dessert and hand made mochis and even old tea houses established by the locals.

Our stomachs were grumbling, so we refueled with a scrumptious lunch before diving into the temple experience. Byodoin Temple, folks, is a bona fide icon of Japan.
