Udon Thani City Museum is a 2-storey colonial building with classic architecture adapted to Thai style. It is made of brick and mortar, has a hip roof, arched windows, and a protruding porch in front of the archway. It is an old building in Udon Thani that has been continuously renovated. In 2014, Udon Thani Municipality implemented a project to renovate the Udon Thani City Museum to restore and develop the building to be a new learning resource. Additional buildings were constructed and technology was used in the museum to make it more interesting.
There are 26 exhibition rooms in the building, divided into:
The ground floor has 11 rooms that display stories about Udon Thani Province, including history, archeology, natural history, geology, local history, and arts and culture. Including the history and honor of Krom Luang Prachaksinlapakhom, the founder of Udon Thani, such as the room when the land of Isan was under the sea, the room about important people who contributed to Udon Thani, the room of Udon Thani's best things, etc.
The 15 rooms on the upper floor display stories about the way of life of Udon Thani people in various aspects, such as a model classroom, a model train station during the R.S. 112 incident, a coffee shop, a photography shop, and an old-fashioned barbershop, as well as a room about the adaptation of Udon Thani people to the changing economic conditions, etc.
