Ban Lao Phra Chao Ta Khiew Temple
Wat Ban Lao Phra Chao Ta Khiew, Lamphun Province
🙏It is an ancient temple in Lamphun with a long history. There is an old black Buddha statue as the principal Buddha image in the temple. In front of the temple, there is a statue of Thao Wessuwan on the left and a statue of Thao Kumphan on the right, standing prominently before entering the temple area.
🌿According to legend, when the Lord Buddha traveled to preach Buddhism everywhere, he gave his footprint, hair relics, and prophesied that in the future, there would be a city that flourished in Buddhism, named "Hariphunchai Nakhon".
🙏After that, Mengkbutr and the local people dug a tunnel, put the hair relics in a gold casket and put them in a silver casket, along with many valuables, and put them in the tunnel and closed it with large bricks. Later, the Naga brought large stones from the underworld to cover the tunnel with another layer.
👍When the Hariphunchai Nakhon Kingdom was very prosperous in religion, a virtuous person named Khantaka learned about the hair relics, so he led a group to dig it up and renovate the cave. And built a Buddha statue over the mouth of the cave 1 statue. When it came to the face, they didn't know what to do. Phra In knew with his intuition, so he transformed into "Chi Phakhao" to volunteer to help build it. He put the green emerald glass that he brought with him into both eyes of the Buddha statue. The local people therefore called it "Phra Chao Ta Khiew" until today.
