Reverend Father Nilmani, Bang Kung Temple
#Beautiful temple
Wat Bang Kung, Bang Khonthi District, Samut Songkhram Province is an ancient temple built since the Ayutthaya period. There is also Luang Pho Phutthamaninil, a Buddha statue in the Mara-Vijaya posture from the Ayutthaya period, enshrined in a Bodhi-covered chapel, which is the highlight of Wat Bang Kung.
The highlight of Wat Bang Kung is the chapel, which is different from other temples. There is no gable or raka leaf, but it is covered with four types of large trees: Bodhi, Banyan, Krai, and Krang trees. It is considered the only tree chapel in Thailand. It is also a temple full of history. Since the Ayutthaya period, in 2308, the Burmese army invaded Ayutthaya. King Ekathat built a camp and a wall around Wat Bang Kung, called Bang Kung Camp. When Ayutthaya fell, Bang Kung Camp became an abandoned camp. King Taksin the Great restored independence and established Thonburi. He then gathered followers to establish a garrison to guard the old camp at Bang Kung again.
Therefore, Wat Bang Kung is not only an ancient temple that is worshipped by the locals, but it is also a temple of historical significance. and natural wonders combined together, making it one of the Unseen Thailand tourist attractions.
Inside the temple, there are also Muay Thai statues, each pair of statues representing different Muay Thai poses for those interested to study, and a monument to King Taksin the Great.
