Wat Phra Chedi Sao Lang, Royal Monastery, Lampang
🛕 Wat Phra Chedi Saw Lang is a temple with a history of more than a thousand years. It is located in Tambon Ton Thong Chai, 5 kilometers from Lampang city. There is a story that 2 Arahants from India traveled to spread Buddhism and use it as a place to stay and practice Dhamma. Phya Milin came to discuss Dhamma and built a pagoda that contains the hair of the Arahants in 20 pagodas, which is the origin of the temple's name, 'Chedi Saw Lang'.
💁 Inside the temple, there is Phra That Chedi Saw, which is a mixture of Lanna and Burmese art. The largest pagoda is in the middle, surrounded by 19 smaller pagodas. In front of each pagoda, there is a niche to enshrine a Buddha image.
🧏 There is also a pure gold Buddha image weighing 100 baht and 2 salung that the villagers dug up in 1983 and gave to the temple. It is called 'Phra Saen Sae Thongkham'.
