Making merit by offering a golden sash to Luang Pho Thongkham | Hong Temple
Luang Por Suk or Luang Por Thongkham of Wat Hong Rattanaram was once covered with cement until it became a Rattanakosin style Buddha statue. Then in 1956, Phra Sukhum Thammacharn, the abbot of Wat Hong Rattanaram at that time, found a chipped area around his chest, revealing the inside of the Buddha statue, which was bright gold. This led to the chipping off of the cement, revealing the beautiful Sukhothai style Buddha statue inside. The bright gold is the origin of the name ‘Luang Por Thongkham’. The name ‘Luang Por Suk’
Wat Hong Rattanaram is located in the Old Palace area. There are many important religious sites nearby, such as Wat Arun Ratchawararam, Wat Molilokyaram, and the Ton Son Mosque. You can get there by private car or public transportation, such as the Talad Po, ferry, or walking from MRT Itsaraphap.
