Wat Pa Pradu, Rayong
An ancient temple in Rayong Province, home to the largest reclining Buddha (reclining Buddha lying on its left side) from the Ayutthaya period in Thailand. Wat Pa Pradu was elevated to the status of a royal temple in 1990. It was originally called "Wat Palelaiyok", then its name was changed to "Wat Pa Pradu" until today.
Inside the temple, there are sacred objects and important historical sites of the temple, including the reclining Buddha (reclining Buddha lying on its left side), the Buddha in the Pa Lai Lai posture (sitting Buddha), the Buraphachan Wihan, the more than 100-year-old Ubosot, the old chapel, the 9 auspicious bells, the more than 100-year-old chedi, and the more than 100-year-old hot spring. Wat Pa Pradu is peaceful and shady, still maintaining the sacredness and beauty of the Buddha statues from the Ayutthaya period and the buildings from the early Rattanakosin period for people to come and pay homage and admire.
Reclining Buddha (left side): The golden Buddha statue is beautiful and old from the Ayutthaya period. It is 11.95 meters long and 3.60 meters high, making it the largest in Thailand. According to beliefs, if anyone is in trouble, suffering physically and mentally, has a heavy burden, is not feeling well physically or mentally, when they have the opportunity to come and ask for blessings, their bad things will turn into good things.
Phra Pang Pa Lai Lai (sitting Buddha): It is 6.03 meters high. According to beliefs, people ask for blessings to bring fame, honor, and praise, which will bring wealth and property to themselves and their families.
