Wat Pa Sawang Boon, Saraburi Province
Inside the temple, there is Phra Maha Rattana Loha Chedi Si Sasan Phothisat Sawang Boon, which has 9 floors and 500 stupas. The main stupa is located in the center, and smaller stupas are located around the sides. The stupa itself is made of beautifully intricate stucco and coated in gold. The inner walls of the main stupa are decorated with ruby glass, and relics from Nepal, India, and Sri Lanka have been brought to be enshrined in the 500-spired pagoda.
Near the 500-spire pagoda, there is also the “Phra Phuttha Sihasai Yasana”, a Buddha statue in the Parinirvana posture or the posture of provoking Asura Indra, called “Phra Maha Chakraphat Phut Sawang Boon”. It is 209 meters long and as high as a 16-storey building, and is currently under construction.
When you go up the hill, there is a Naga staircase leading to the Phra Maha Chedi Thepnithakorn. It is a great pagoda containing 84,000 relics of the Lord Buddha, according to the number of Dharma Khandha of the Lord Buddha. Around the great pagoda are the four guardian deities of the four directions who protect the great pagoda.
