"Phra Borommathat Suea at Wat Phra Borommathat Suea", Amphoe Suea, Chumphon Province
This chedi is one of the 4 most important and sacred chedis in the South.
🌞 Our group came to wrap the chedi with cloth since 5 am. The abbot opened the temple door for us. We were greeted by the first light + the golden chedi, very beautiful. The orange sky welcomed the morning light. I must say that no one gets this picture because the temple doors usually open around 8 am. I must say that this is a rare image.

For those who travel to Chumphon or travel south, stopping by to pay homage to Phra Borommathat Suwi, a temple that is a symbol of Chumphon city, is considered a very auspicious thing to do on your trip. _
We really like this place. It is a very peaceful and clean temple. The chedi is beautiful. The surrounding area is constantly being restored. Outside, there is a shrine to Phra Suea Mueang, who is responsible for taking care of the chedi since the Ayutthaya period. The temple is next to the Suwi River. You can cross the bridge to take pictures.
Outside, there are flowers, incense, and candles provided by the temple, which can be donated to the temple according to your faith. If you come in the morning, sometimes there will be locals selling vegetables, fruits, and products from the locals' gardens. They are fresh and inexpensive. #Chumphon, a must-visit city #Chumphon #Wat Phra Borommathat Suwi #Suwi

Wat Phra Borommathat Suwi, Chumphon Province
🙏This is a pagoda influenced by the style of the Phra Mahathat Chedi of Nakhon Si Thammarat. It is therefore assumed to have been built in the Ayutthaya period. It is a 14.25-meter-high pagoda with a square base 8.50 meters wide on each side. There are elephant and giant arches and a staircase leading up to the east. The upper floor is surrounded by Buddha arches, followed by a bell-shaped pagoda decorated with gold mosaic tiles and small pagodas at the four corners.
💐According to legend, King Sri Dharmasokarat led his army to Suwi District and encountered a strange event. A flock of crows flew and landed on a pile of bricks, squealing and flapping their wings. When the pile of bricks was removed, the base of the pagoda and the relics of the Lord Buddha were found. He ordered the pagoda to be restored and celebrated for 7 days and 7 nights, and named this pagoda “Phra That Kawi Pik”.
🙏The legend also tells that before King Sri Dharmasokarat led his army back, he called for soldiers who volunteered to stay and take care of the pagoda. It so happened that a soldier named “Nai Mueang” volunteered. His Majesty ordered the head of the Nai Mueang to be cut off as an offering to the spirit guarding the chedi forever. A shrine was built called “San Phra Suea Mueang”, which is currently located in front or to the east of Phra That Suea.

This temple must be accessed from the main road. Both sides of the road are full of nature. You can plug the GPS to the correct location.
When I arrived at the temple, I was a bit confused because the temple itself is quite blended with the roadside.
There is a parking lot inside. There is a museum (free admission) in the parking lot. And the bathroom is in that area (the temple is also next to the canal).
As for the chedi inside, it is not very big. It is gold. You can go in to worship and ask for blessings.
Further on, there is the church and monks' huts. You can walk around and see it at your leisure.

“Wat Phra That Sue” is known as one of the four sacred relics of the South. Inside the temple, there is a sacred object of the city, the Phra Borommathat, a bell-shaped stupa decorated with three elephant-shaped niches showing only the head and front legs on each side. It is assumed that the pagoda, which is more than 700 years old, was built during the Ayutthaya period, but the temple has been consistently restoring and renovating it, so it has maintained its beauty completely.

Wat Phra Borommathat Suwi, Chumphon Province
Phra Borommathat Suwi has the same characteristics as Phra Borommathat Chedi Nakhon Si Thammarat, which is believed to have been built during the Ayutthaya period. The current chedi has a square base, 8.50 meters wide on each side, decorated with 6 pillars, decorated with elephant statues with their front legs supporting the chedi on 3 sides, alternating with giants holding batons, and small chedis modeled after the large chedi located around the base at all 4 corners. The chedi is in the shape of an inverted bell, decorated on top with pillars, umbrella stems, lotus vines, and seven-tiered umbrella segments. The top tier has spires and dewdrops arranged along the four-way gallery, approximately 105-110 statues. Inside, the relics of the Lord Buddha are enshrined.
The Phra Suea Mueang Shrine, located inside the temple, was created by the Lord of the City, a soldier in the volunteer army, who guarded the relics here. King Sri Dharmasokarat ordered his soldiers to cut off the head of the mayor and worship it at the shrine called "San Phra Suea Mueang" to be the guardian of the relics of the Lord Buddha.
Pay homage to the ancient pagoda, a symbol of Chumphon. According to legend, once, King Sri Dharmasokarat led his army to rest at an abandoned temple in Sawi District. There were white crows and other crows sitting on a pile of bricks, squealing. He therefore ordered his soldiers to remove the bricks and found the base of a large pagoda with a casket containing the relics buried in it. After that, a new pagoda was built and a celebration was held for 7 days and 7 nights.
