Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu

Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu is a beautiful temple in Mae Hong Son, located not far from Mae Hong Son city. For locals, this place has been a sacred place of worship since ancient times, with beautiful Mon architecture.
Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu is a sacred temple of Mae Hong Son for a long time. It is located on Doi Kong Mu, just 3 km west of Mae Hong Son city. Take Highway 108 at the Phraya Singhanatracha Monument and go left on the asphalt road up the mountain for about 1.5 km, and you will reach Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu. It was originally called “Wat Plai Doi”, but since it is located on Doi Kong Mu, locals prefer to call it “Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu”.
Phra That Doi Kong Mu is a sacred place of worship, consisting of a chedi. Shan-Burmese art, 2 pieces, consisting of:
• The large pagoda built by Chong Tong Su in 1860, enshrining the relics of Phra Moggallana Thera, the chief disciple on the left, brought from Mawlamyine, Burma.
• The small pagoda was built in 1874 by Phraya Singhanatracha, the first governor of Mae Hong Son, enshrining the relics of Phra Sariputta, the chief disciple on the right, brought from Mandalay, Burma.
From Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu, you can clearly see the landscape and the city of Mae Hong Son, which is very beautiful. This temple has many annual festivals, such as on New Year's Day, Songkran Day, and especially on the last day of Buddhist Lent, there will be a Tak Bat Daowadung or Tak Bat Thevo ceremony.
