🙏Wat Phra That Chom Ping was originally named Wat Chom Ping. When the chedi was built, it was renamed Wat Phra That Chom Ping. It is an ancient temple that has been a part of Lampang for a long time. It was built during the reign of Queen Chamadevi, but was completed during the reign of King Tilokarat. It has Lanna architecture with a touch of Burmese art, making Wat Phra That Chom Ping beautiful. Wat Phra That Chom Ping is about 16 kilometers from Wat Phra That Lampang Luang.
🏰Inside the temple is a beautiful golden chedi, 34 meters high, containing the relics of the Lord Buddha. It is believed to have been built during the reign of Queen Chamadevi. Other interesting things in the temple include:
🏰The beautiful and simple royal chapel houses Phra Phuttha Chomphing Chai Mongkhon, an ancient Buddha image revered by the people of Lampang.
🏰The ordination hall, the year of construction is unknown, but it is known that it was renovated in 1958. It is a small ordination hall with a two-story roof. The gable above the entrance arch is decorated with stucco patterns. Inside is the principal Buddha image, made by local craftsmen. A distinctive feature of the chapel is the shadow of the chedi inside the chapel, reflected through small holes in the windows onto the chapel floor, creating a realistic image, similar to a photograph of the chedi but upside down. This phenomenon occurs when there is light, both day and night. 🏰In addition, the temple also has the Phra That Chom Ping Temple Museum, which displays various antiques excavated in the area, such as Buddha heads and broken pottery. Bronze ornaments, spearheads, stone bracelets, chicken-brand bowls, and animal bone cups, etc.
