Worship and ask for blessings from the Nine-Tiger God | Suan Dok Temple | Chiang Mai
Phra Chao Kao Tue is the principal Buddha image in the ordination hall of Wat Suan Dok or Wat Buppharam, Tambon Suthep, Amphoe Mueang Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai Province. This is an important temple in Chiang Mai. Phra Chao Kao Tue is a beautiful bronze Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture. It is currently enshrined in the ordination hall of Wat Phra Chao Kao Tue, which is a single temple in Chiang Mai. The word “Tue” is a unit of weight for metal in ancient Lanna, with 1 Tue equal to 1,000 kilograms (some texts say 1 Tue weighs 1,200 kilograms). Phra Chao Kao Tue refers to a Buddha image cast from 9,000 kilograms or 9 tons of metal.
The Yonok Chronicles state that Phra Chao Mueang Kaew or Phra Chao Sirithammachakraphat, or another name, Phra Tilokpanaddathirat, the 14th king of the Mangrai Dynasty who ruled the Lanna Kingdom, ordered the construction of this Buddha image to be the principal image in the Phra Singh shrine. The casting began on Thursday, the 11th waxing moon of the 8th month of the year of the Rat, Chula Sakarat 866 (2047 B.E.). After the casting, the decoration was done until Thursday, the 5th waxing moon of the 5th month of the year of the Ox, Saptasok, Chula Sakarat 467 (2048 B.E.), when it was completed. The Buddha image has 8 places to connect. However, because the Buddha image is very heavy, when it was finished casting, it could not be slowed down to enter the city. Therefore, His Majesty ordered the construction of a temple to be enshrined near the temple of Wat Buppharam or Wat Suan Dok. On Wednesday, the 4th waxing moon of the 5th month of the year of the Snake, Ekasok, Chula Sakarat 870 (2052 B.E.), this Buddha image was moved to be enshrined as the principal Buddha image in the ordination hall of Wat Buppharam. #TravelingAroundThailand #Thailand #MissingNature #Wat Suan Dok #BeautifulTemplesAroundThailand #TravelingThailand #WhereToTravel #PrayForBlessings #WorshipSacredObjects #Faith guides the travel route #Pagoda #Stupa #7 Lords #Ecotourism #History and culture #Old temple #Buddhism #Beautiful photo spots #Northern team #Travel north #Visit north #Visit Chiang Mai #Chiang Mai #Chiang Mai in the rainy season #Review Chiang Mai #Check in Chiang Mai #Visit north when the flowers bloom #Visit Chiang Mai #Merit-making #Sala Lanna Chiang Mai
