Suan Tan Temple
Wat Suan Tan is an ancient temple that has been with Nan for almost 600 years. It was built during the reign of Queen Pathummawadi, the wife of Phraya Phukeng, the ruler of Nan, around 1955 B.E. It was built outside the northern wall of Nan, which used to be Suan Tan Luang. When this temple was built, its name was named after Suan Tan Luang. In addition, Wat Suan Tan is home to “Phra Chao Thong Thip”, the god of gold, a large bronze Buddha statue. “Phra Chao Thong Thip” is enshrined as the principal Buddha image in the large chapel. Wat Suan Tan is a large bronze Buddha statue in the Mara-Vijaya posture, measuring 10 feet wide and 14 feet 4 inches high. It was built in 1993 B.E. by King Tilokarat of Chiang Mai to symbolize his victory in seizing Nan under his royal authority. Every year during the Songkran Festival, Nan people will regularly hold a ceremony to worship and bathe “Phra Chao Thong Thip”, an important Buddha image that Nan people respect and have been a guardian deity of the city since the past. #thailand #beautifultemplesinThailand #thaitemple #visitancientsites #worshipandpray #nan #visitnan

🪷Wat Suan Tan, a large temple in Nan🧘🏻♀️
If anyone is looking for a place to make merit, I would like to recommend this place, “Wat Suan Tan”. Wat Suan Tan is located in Nai Wiang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nan Province. Today, it was built in 1770. The architecture of the pagoda is beautiful. On the ground floor, there are archways in all four directions. Inside the chapel, there is an important Buddha image, Phra Chao Thong Thip, which is highly revered by people from both the local and foreign areas. Every year, there is a ceremony to pay homage and pour water on it regularly during the Songkran Festival, which is celebrated all day long. This is an important temple and is considered one of the oldest temples in Nan Province. It has been a temple that has been in Nan for over 600 years. There is also a sacred well, which was originally a spring that gushes water from underground. Later, it was renovated and built into a sacred well. This is located in front of the temple of Wat Suan Tan. This makes Wat Suan Tan a temple that is very connected to the people of Nan, whether in terms of faith or regular Buddhist activities, such as chanting prayers at the end of the year or pouring water on the Buddha image. Therefore, it has always been respected and believed in by the people of Nan. 🕰️Opening hours: 07.00-18.00 hrs.
