#hiddengems I'm a firm believer in going off the beaten path. Sure, check out the tourist hotspots. But the best finds tend to be the least well known or crowded! Yanui Beach is situated in the south of Phuket, sandwiched between the popular Nai Harn Beach and Promthep Cape, connected all by 1 single-lane, winding road that's often unused by tourist minibuses. What Yanui Beach lacks in size, it makes up for with charm and beauty. It's really small, but easily the most beautiful in Phuket. Expect very little crowds: about 20-30 others came/gone during my 3 hour visit. Yanui is "split" into 2 by an easily climbable rock formation, dividing the sea into 1 area for snorkeling and the other for swimming. Snorkeling and kayaking - MUST try here. Either can be done for 100THB if you need equipment. When the waves are calm, kayaking here was amazing. The adventurous can circle a smaller island in the sea - it'll take about 30-45 minutes. The marine line was also quite impressive, I spotted many kinds of fish and coral. The water was room temperature, and the sand sparkling and pristine. If you're hungry, go for a meal at this lovely restaurant just by the beach, off the road (it's also where the only toilet is). Overall, a STUNNING hidden gem in Phuket many don't know of. I visited several places in Phuket to watch the sunset and made some simple notes: 📍 Karon Beach (P1) Not many people, and the view is quite open. The waves get stronger during low tide, and I saw some people surfing. It’s a good spot for water activities. The sunset was quiet and peaceful, watching the sun slowly go down felt nice. 📍 Patong Beach (P2) Very crowded with lots of water sports. It’s lively and busy. Though it’s not the quiet kind of sunset, it’s still interesting and a different experience. 📍 Kata Beach (P3) Fewer people and some buildings along the shore that look nice in photos. But the sunset view is partially blocked, so you can’t see the full sun going down. 📍 Yanui Beach (P4) There are rocks you can climb, and the scenery should be good. I didn’t catch the full sunset when I was there, but the environment felt okay and it’s a nice place to spend some quiet time. ⸻ If you want a quiet place to watch the sunset, I recommend Karon. For a lively atmosphere, go to Patong. Kata is good for photos but has a limited view. Yanui is worth checking out and might surprise you.
