Lots of shopping in Pudong. CBD area full of nice tall majestic skyscrapers. We walk to Huangpu River to view opposite - the Bund. Lively area with lots of tourists. Liuziajui subway is a short way to the various points. A round bridge was built above the roundabout where you can capture overall view of the CBD. You can access the shopping from the bridge. We had lunch at Kwei Mun Lung - the best Beggar Chicken and Frog Legs in earthen pot. Enjoyable trip!

I chose this hotel because it was cheaper when combined with the flight, and because I arrived at Pudong Airport quite late and there was no subway, so I was traveling alone and it was easy to find and not too far away by taxi. It was on a wide street, had a driveway, and was available for check-in 24 hours a day. It was about 8 minutes from Guanglan Road on the 2nd subway line, but this station is surrounded by residential areas, so it felt a bit lonely when walking from the subway station at night. There was a bus stop and it was easy to catch a taxi or Didi, so I thought the transportation was not bad. This time, I took a taxi twice, Didi once, and the rest of the time, the subway. The front desk staff spoke Chinese and a translator at night. During the day, the staff could speak English. Everyone was very kind. The surrounding area is a complex of office buildings and residential areas, so there are some commercial facilities and restaurants. This time, for various reasons, I did not order breakfast at the hotel, and on the first day I went directly to my destination, and on the second and third days I went to a simple restaurant in the neighborhood where families go and ate porridge and dumplings before going out. McDonald's was open early in the morning. I booked a Superior Queen room, and it was more spacious and clean than I expected. The desk was spacious and the window was large, so I personally liked it a lot. Maybe because the convenience store was far away, there were a few bottles of soft drinks and a small can of Tsingtao beer in the refrigerator in addition to mineral water. I didn't really care about it, so I noticed it after I got into the room, but there was a large bathtub. The hair dryer and amenities were easy to use, so that was also good. However, there was no USB outlet in the room, only a normal outlet, so you need to be careful about that. I usually bring a conversion plug when I travel, but this time I forgot, so I ended up asking the front desk staff to lend me one. On the day of my return, I had a taxi waiting in front of the hotel's entrance take me to Longyang Road Station, and then took the Maglev to Pudong Airport. (The driver told me that it would be cheaper and probably faster to just take a taxi to the airport, but I just wanted to try the Maglev (lol).) Maybe because it was a long weekend, there were a lot of families there going to Disneyland. The accommodation fee itself was quite reasonable, probably because it was quite far from the city center. The travel books recommend to buy here bottled water because the tap water isn't drinkable. Well you don't have to do that in most of the cases. There are water purification machines in hotel and hostel with hot and cold water. If you run out of water you can refill your bottles at service stations where there's toilet and in a case water purification machine. Standing next to the Gundam, it feels like you are in a science fiction world. Next, I went to Xujiahui Academy. The environment here is very elegant. There are many books and literary works in the academy, which makes people want to calm down and read. The design of the academy combines classical and modern elements, making it a great place to relax. The itinerary for this day was very casual and the transportation in Shanghai was very convenient.
