Review: Chalerm Rattanakosin National Park, Kanchanaburi Province
Chalerm Rattanakosin National Park is located in Si Sawat District, Kanchanaburi Province. It covers an area of approximately 224 square kilometers or 140,000 rai. It was declared the 17th national park of Thailand in 1980 to conserve abundant natural resources, including forests, wildlife, waterfalls, and beautiful limestone caves.
Topography and nature
The park area is a complex mountain range with an average elevation of 300-1,000 meters above sea level. It is covered with tropical rainforest and mixed deciduous forest, which is the source of many streams, such as Huai Mae Klong Noi, Huai Khlong Pega, and Huai Nam Sap. Within the park, there are a variety of plants and wildlife, such as gaur, barking deer, wild boar, gibbons, as well as local and migratory birds.
Important tourist attractions/spots
Tham Tar Lod Yai: It is a limestone cave with a stream flowing through its entire length. Inside, there are beautiful stalactites and stalagmites and prehistoric paintings that have historical and archaeological value.
Tham Tar Lod Noi: Located near Tham Tar Lod Yai, this is another cave with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites and is suitable for nature trail study.
Jok Kradin Waterfall: A medium-sized waterfall with clear water, suitable for swimming and relaxing.
Nature trail study: There are many trails to choose from depending on the difficulty level. Tourists can learn about the ecosystem, forests and wildlife along the prepared trails.
Facilities
The park has bungalows, tent sites, restrooms and sufficient security officers, as well as a Visitor Center that provides information on nature and travel within the park.
Recommendations for tourists
-Dress appropriately for hiking.
-Prepare a flashlight if you want to visit the cave.
-Avoid traveling during the rainy season as some trails may be slippery or dangerous.
-Strictly follow the park's regulations to conserve natural resources and ensure your own safety.
Chaloem Rattanakosin National Park is therefore an eco-tourism destination with a variety of nature, suitable for those interested in learning about the environment and going on adventures in the forest. And experience the beauty of the cave and waterfall up close. It is another gem of Kanchanaburi province that is worth visiting. I recommend it.
