Popular local delicacies and snacks in Taitung City (Part 1)
There is no end to the delicious local snacks. Zhengqi Road alone covers all kinds of snacks. I would like to introduce some more food that is farther away in Beinan (close to Taitung Railway Station), or some food that I personally recommend but rarely reported. 😋
🌟Puyuma pig blood soup
This is the only one with no branches, but sometimes it will be confused with a store on Chuanguang Road. The pig blood soup has a really different broth, made with pig bones but not greasy. In addition to pig blood, leeks and sauerkraut, pig large intestines are also added. The pig blood is just like red tofu and has no fishy smell. The second signature dish is the glutinous rice sausage, which is made from natural pig intestines and stuffed with glutinous rice and peanuts every day. It tastes super good with garlic soy sauce! Although there are a lot of offal cuts, I think a set of classic pig blood soup with glutinous rice sausage is enough, and it is enough to spend 110 (but you have to queue)
I really think the side dishes are too expensive nowadays. If I really want to order, I would recommend the pig tail and crispy intestines, which are quite special. They are blanched in Sichuan and have just the right amount of chewy and crispy texture, and the chewy texture and salty fragrance go well together!

🌟Taitung Sugar Factory Ice Shop
Dongtang ice products use self-produced sugar and local agricultural products from Taitung. The ingredients are good, pure sugar, hygienic and cheap. There are many flavors, including 9 kinds of popsicles and 14 kinds of ice cream. Among them, the signature red bean milk ice cream is the most popular. The flavor I have been eating since I was a child is Italian shortbread ice cream. You can choose from flavors such as Valencia, papaya, milk, roselle, durian, peanut, green tea, etc.; red bean, peanut, taro and other popsicles are also cheap and substantial, and everyone buys them in boxes and takes them away!

🌟Ashange stinky tofu vs Lin's stinky tofu
Ashan Ge's stinky tofu is the only up-and-coming store that I recommend over the old one, because Lin's fried it too crispy and small, completely losing the taste of the tofu (otherwise their basil soy sauce is a great match); Ashan Ge is not easy to find in Puyuma, and the tofu is made with the Choudong style, marinated with fruits and then drizzled with Chinese toon sauce, which has a very refreshing aroma. You can't stop eating the tofu dipped in spicy basil kimchi!

🌟Baosang glutinous rice balls vs. Baosang tofu pudding
Both are old shops. If you love tofu pudding, go to Baosang Tofu Pudding. The traditional tofu flavor is made with real ingredients and is simple and delicious. In winter, you can also enjoy the smooth taste of hot tofu pudding with ginger juice!
If you like to eat crushed ice, come to Baosang Tangyuan. This restaurant has a more nostalgic feel to me. The famous small white glutinous rice balls are very chewy and the crispy powder balls are very crunchy. The hot peanut soup is also a signature dish. I recommend it!
📍No. 115, Zhengqi Road, Taitung City vs. No. 189, Zhengqi Road
🌟Chen's Mochi vs Chen's
In fact, I think there is no difference and both are suitable as souvenirs 😂 The unique pure water source and fertile soil in the east allow Taitung to nourish the famous longitudinal valley rice in Taiwan. The rice culture full of rice fragrance is a specialty that Taitung people are proud of!
Both restaurants insist on using 100% pure natural ingredients such as Chihshang round glutinous rice, which are hand-kneaded daily. However, Chen's Mochi started out as a street vendor nearly 70 years ago, and it was a frequent afternoon tea spot for me when I was in junior high and high school. They have many traditional flavors and have also added many new flavors made with local ingredients, so you can choose!
📍No. 186, Boai Road, Taitung City vs. No. 213, Datong Road
💯There are too many places I want to introduce, such as Xiao's meatballs, Prince Noodle Shop, Honglu Roast Duck, Mazu Temple Eel Noodles, etc. Gourmets can personally discover the local food in Taitung👍
