Traveling to Kobe with my parents, choosing Portopia Hotel was definitely the right decision! First off, they have a shuttle bus that makes getting to and from Sannomiya super convenient. Secondly, the hotel exudes an old-school luxury, with thoughtful design evident everywhere. The extra bed was incredibly comfortable, and the restaurant offers amazing views. My only regret is that we had to leave the rooftop observation deck quickly due to strong winds.
The balcony view was truly amazing, but the hotel itself is quite old. The room we were given had no charging outlets by the bed, so we had to move the desk to charge our devices under the vanity and behind the TV. The air conditioning vent made a strange 'ticking' noise; it wasn't too bad during the day, but at night, when everything else was quiet, it became really noticeable.
On the plus side, the lady at the front desk spoke excellent English. However, the shuttle service to and from Sannomiya wasn't very convenient, and the breakfast was just mediocre.
I definitely won't be staying here again on my next visit to Kobe.
The hotel's location is excellent, just a three-minute walk to the right of Himeji Castle Station. The facilities are modern and the rooms are clean. The front desk is very luxurious with many sculptures. There's also a hot spring bath. It's a great hotel, I'll definitely stay here again next time.
A cozy and comfortable stay in an excellent location, just a short 5-minute walk from Himeji Station. Amenities are conveniently provided on the reception floor. One of the best parts of the stay was the beautiful view of Himeji Castle directly from the hotel — a real highlight. Highly enjoyable stay overall.
Great value hotel. Only 200 meters from south exit of Himeji JR. The room is clean, however the bathroom has a stinky smell. My partner said it could be the cleaning agent. If so, I recommend the hotel to make a better choice. The breakfast is simple but adequate. The free dinner provided could help if you just need something light. They have a nice salad bar.
We had a very spacious corner twin room for 2 of us! So generous! Also the onsen was very clean and we loved it! Parking was full when we arrived but they directed us to a nearby parking lot with fixed parking rate. Love this place!

Excellent place to experience traditional Japanese living.
To avoid difficulties with getting to the hotel you should take a bus at Shin-Kobe station before darkness. This bus will take you to the bus stop at Arima, it’s 600 m away from hotel.

The hotel's hygiene and service are excellent. It's conveniently located 100 meters from Dongpu Bus Terminal, making it easy to catch buses to attractions, though do note that bus frequencies are limited, so check the schedule in advance. On the first floor, there's a microwave, oven, and coffee machine available for guests. Right outside the hotel is a beach, but it seems uncleaned with some litter, and at night, the sea outside the window is pitch black. There's also an Aeon supermarket nearby, which is handy for buying food.
This is a five star hotel in a three star body. Rooms are TINY, like scandanavian homes, but everything was clean and fresh, staff were outstanding, we could store out bags before and after our stay, missing personal articles available for free downstairs. Clear rooftop vie of the castle so you don't have to leave the hotel for beutiful shots of the castle. Near a huge gorgeous, covered pedetrian only walking are. Only sorry to have had only one night here.
The location of Kobe Lumen Hotel is very good. It is in the city and the parking lot is easy to find. It is in the alley directly opposite the hotel and the price is reasonable. The hotel service is very good. We arrived very late and the check-in time was past, but they did not neglect us and arranged to check in immediately. When we checked out in the morning, we were 5 minutes late and they did not say anything. They were very gentle. The room was very clean and warm. The sound insulation effect was very good and suitable for living. In short, because of the comparison with the previous one, this one is simply heaven.
The only flaw is that the room is a little small. Everything else is acceptable, mainly because of the cheap price.

ZZhezidashuA very satisfying trip to Awaji Island was made even better by our hotel. Everything was arranged in the best way. We changed buses from Kyoto and confirmed the pick-up station through the Ctrip platform. When we arrived, it was still early, so we took the free shuttle bus to go shopping (with luggage back to the hotel). We used the coupons to buy lunch and ice cream at Hello Kitty. When checking in, the male waiters all kneel down to serve, and confirm the information of dinner and going out the next day. The room we stayed in is a single-family round house like a yurt with a viewing balcony and a wooden bath. The details of the room are all local characteristics (dressing box, free mini bar/dessert, washbasin are all petrified wood). The central roof is transparent and empty, and you can also observe the stars. We enjoyed the food here for 5 days, especially the dinner was not repeated and changed in various styles. What surprised me was that the waitress could perform saxophone and flute at dinner, and there was a restaurant like a stage on the island where you could also enjoy the waiter's musical performance. The 20,000 consumption vouchers given for 5 days are enough for you to go out for free at noon. We also bought Hello Kitty exclusive gifts for the children at the Big Apple with the vouchers. This trip to Awaji Island is more memorable than the trip to Kyoto, and the people are simple and honest. Everyone is working hard to promote tourism in Awaji Island, which is worthy of praise. I will bring my children here next time.
GGuest UserThis time, I was assigned a room on the 29th floor with a mountain view, which I think offers the most beautiful scenery! What truly impresses you about Hotel Okura isn't just the hardware (though it's excellent), but the service! That kind of 'proactive' service awareness means they've already anticipated your needs and processes before you even speak. Someone greets you at the entrance, guides you with your luggage, and the flow is crystal clear. Check-in is hassle-free, with a rhythm like a well-oiled machine, yet it never feels cold. From the moment you walk in, you can clearly feel their dedication to making guests feel at home during the often-frazzling 'arrival to room' period. The room still exudes the confidence of an old-school five-star hotel, with a comfortable sense of space and meticulous details. Especially that feeling of 'settling in comfortably' is something trendy influencer hotels can't match, even though the Okura has become quite popular itself 😝. But it still holds up to repeated stays and contemplation. The bedding, soundproofing, and cleanliness are top-tier, the kind where you can immediately relax once you're back in the room. What's even more impressive is that the Okura's excellence isn't just about one specific point, but about 'never dropping the ball.' The staff don't overdo it, but they're always there when you need them, and they never disturb you when you don't. The phrase 'subtle yet pervasive' perfectly describes this hotel. Kobe Okura doesn't make you think 'wow, it's so new and luxurious,' but rather, it shows you what the standard of a five-star hotel truly is. My only small regret is that the dessert shop is under renovation, and the previous Okura-owned supermarket has been replaced by a FamilyMart.
GGuest UserBeautiful property, would absolutely stay here again. Staff were really friendly and nice, bedroom was modern and well equipped, parking available and within a few minutes walk of the harbour where the boats leave for Naruto Whirlpools.
GGuest UserGrand Mercure Awaji Island boasts unparalleled sea views of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and the Seto Inland Sea. Its excellent location, however, makes it best suited for guests traveling by car. Our sea-view room was spacious and comfortable, with floor-to-ceiling windows that made the morning sea sunrise a daily spectacle. Both breakfast and dinner offered a wide variety of dishes; we especially recommend the Awaji Island milk and local onion specialties. However, dining options nearby are limited, meaning you'll likely rely on the hotel's restaurant for dinner. Without a car, finding other dining spots would require a taxi.
The hotel service was attentive, and the front desk staff spoke fluent English, providing helpful guides to local attractions. While the rooftop open-air hot spring bath isn't natural, it was uncrowded, peaceful, and incredibly relaxing with its sea views. On the downside, the facilities are a bit dated, and there's a noticeable lack of family-friendly entertainment options.
Overall, this hotel is ideal for guests seeking serene sea views and a relaxed pace, offering particularly excellent value for money during the off-season.
DDom9995 star room, very well equipped and very new. felt very comfortable in the room, toilet and room is more spacious than the typical japanese hotel room. will definitely stay again when in kobe. highly recommended.
AAnonymous UserAlthough the facilities are old, but the hygiene level is still neat, if four people live in a small room is super crowded, recommended to add more than 1100 HKD to change a larger room, but was full room can not be replaced, 1 parking 2 meals package includes dinner kaiseki cuisine, feeling is a super ordinary meal with the group, don't have any expectations, sashimi is not fresh, beef shabu shabu is delicious, but the amount is very small, if you ask for guests, it is recommended to eat outside before staying, casually satisfy your hunger to stay for dinner. Also, a free bowl of ramen will be given in the evening to satisfy your hunger.
33219****The hotel is conveniently located right next to Shin-Kobe subway station, just one stop away from Sannomiya, the city center. However, that one subway stop costs 210 yen, which is quite a bit more expensive than what you'd pay back home. So, if you have some time, a pleasant 10-15 minute walk is a great alternative. The cable car for the Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens is also right by the hotel, making it easy to take it up and then enjoy a leisurely stroll back down.
GGuest UserExcellent value for money and a fantastic experience!
The hotel is located in Chinatown, surrounded by tons of great food options, and transportation is quite convenient.
The indoor hot spring, sauna, and bath facilities are absolutely wonderful! If you love soaking in hot springs and enjoying a sauna, you definitely shouldn't miss this. Soaking multiple times a day is pure bliss!
The staff's service attitude is great, and the hygiene and environment are also very good. Although the room size isn't large, it's really clean and tidy. The clothes and slippers provided were perfect to change into before heading straight to the bath!
Some of Kobe's attractions are also within walking distance. I highly recommend this place to all my friends!
JJanJanSnoopyThe hotel is a 10-minute walk from Sannomiya Station, but it is located in a side street, so it is very quiet at night. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. The hotel also provides breakfast for every guest. Although there are not many styles, it is also Pretty good!
KkarekarekareBook a female dorm room for 4 people, but I was alone so have the room for myself. The bed is futon style, a thin foam and then the futon mattress itself. We get a new white sheet upon check in. There's a thin full body mirror, small rack for suitcases and personal belongings, but if you need to, there's also safe box near staff room. The female dorm room is on the 2nd floor, next to the shared kitchen so you can kinda hear other guests cooking or working on their laptop with the wifi. You can have your coffe, tea, cup ramen and even light cooking is allowed as they provided the pans, and also some seasonings. The sink and the toilet is next to it, hairdryers are available and the toilet has bidet seat.
The shower room are on the b1f floor, which a little bit of hassle because you have to pass the staff room everytime. You can wash & dry you clothes too in the utility room next to it, but I dont know if they charge or not. Another kitchen and TV room is also here. Rental towels, bath robe, one time use shaver are also available.
Over all a pleasant place if you only looking to for a place to sleep, and wash your self. It's 5 minutes walk from Oishi station. There's a small river near too which also a nice place for a small walk.
