The room was fantastic! Our triple room on the 17th floor offered stunning mountain and water views when opening the window, creating a very tranquil setting. The rooftop boasts both open-air and indoor hot springs ♨️, available for unlimited free use with your room key card. The water temperature was perfect, and soaking in the springs, sipping tea, and watching the sunset was pure bliss! The buffet breakfast was quite generous. The room was notably spacious, especially for Japan. Complimentary amenities such as toothbrushes, combs, and cotton pads are available for pick-up at the front desk. Rooms receive a light daily service (replacing amenities, emptying trash, but not changing linens), with a full cleaning every two days. Complimentary bottled water is provided, and the bathroom includes a bathtub 🛁. The front desk staff provided excellent, warm, and attentive service – Japanese hospitality is truly outstanding 👍.

This hotel is an excellent choice. The spacious and immaculately clean room was a comfortable retreat, and the location is fantastic—just a few minutes' walk from the station. The real highlight, however, was the wonderful onsen, providing the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring. A highly recommended stay for both convenience and relaxation.

No toothbrush was provided. It was a bit inconvenient to be assigned an upper bunk locker when the occupancy rate was only 10%, but I didn't bring it up to the staff at the time, which is on me. The locker was quite small; after putting in a 29-inch suitcase, there wasn't much space left. The restroom was clean, and the vanity area with a chair was very convenient, thumbs up! 👍🏼

This was one of the best value-for-money accommodations during my entire trip. The breakfast was delicious with a great variety of options. As long as you're willing to wait, you can pretty much enjoy every private hot spring. My favorite private hot spring was Guanhaisi (Watching the Sea Temple) because it offered the best views. What's even more commendable is their free noodles in the evening; they were much tastier than many paid options outside (if you don't have a specific dinner spot in mind locally, I highly recommend eating at the hotel. It was far better than the trendy BBQ places I sought out from Xiaohongshu!). Oh, and the hotel has an incredibly high 'Korean content' – it felt like I was in Korea!

This hotel is perfectly located right in the heart of Beppu's Hells, with attractions literally on its doorstep. All five Hells (Jigoku) are within a 3-5 minute walk, which is incredibly convenient! While the hotel's exterior is unassuming, its interior is a hidden gem. The Japanese garden in the common areas is beautiful. Our room was spacious with a great view, allowing us to see the steam rising from the Hells. Plus, having a private onsen in the room meant we could soak to our heart's content! We even had the large public bath all to ourselves during our visit. The Teppanyaki set meal we booked was a good experience, though we wished there was a little more meat. We specifically requested Japanese-style breakfast when booking, but for some reason, we were given Western-style instead. When we inquired, the staff informed us that it couldn't be changed. On a very positive note, it was our wedding anniversary trip, and the hotel thoughtfully prepared a small gift and took commemorative photos for us – a very nice touch! Aside from these minor issues, everything else was fantastic. The only real downside was the hotel's shuttle service to the station. While they offer it, the last departure is strictly before 11 AM. If you miss it, you have to take a taxi. It feels a bit inconvenient to offer a service with such a limited timeframe. For instance, we visited the Hells in the morning and ended up leaving the hotel after 11 AM, so we had to take a taxi to the JR station. An improvement here would be much appreciated! Overall, my husband, who was visiting Japan for the first time, said it was an excellent Japanese onsen hotel experience. He gives it a big thumbs up!

This hotel is super close to Beppu Station, just a short walk away, yet surprisingly, there's no noise. The room was clean, and so was the washing machine. Plus, there's a fresh food supermarket inside Beppu Station with very reasonable prices!

My sister and I stayed here for two nights. The new environment was very nice, clean and tidy. We were assigned to the plum boudoir on the second floor. The room was very spacious. The air conditioning in the room was extremely cold; even with it set to 27 degrees Celsius, it was still chilly. Our room also had a massage chair, which we found very comfortable. The open-air hot spring was right to the right of the door, very close by. The landlady and the female staff were very friendly. If I come to Beppu again, I will definitely stay here again. Our experience was excellent.

I stayed here in 2024 and had a great experience! This time, however, it was a bit disappointing. The facilities are starting to show their age. The food quality is excellent (half-board with dinner and breakfast). The private onsen in the room is definitely a highlight.

Hello, everyone! We recently stayed at this hotel, and the experience was mixed — there are some nice touches, but also noticeable shortcomings. **Room:** The room was spacious but clearly outdated; furniture and interior look worn. The ventilation works, yet it still feels quite stuffy inside. It would be great if the hotel improved air-conditioning or installed mosquito screens: the sea view is beautiful, but opening the window isn’t an option because of too many insects. **Facilities & Service:** The only real extras are massage service and a shared onsen. There’s no gym, pool, or other activities — the hotel is designed for quiet relaxation. A shuttle service is available, which is convenient, but if you miss it, getting to the hotel on your own can be quite difficult. During this stay the hotel was quite busy, and it often took a long time to catch the elevator to our floor. **Dining:** Breakfast and dinner can be pre-booked; the food was tasty and varied. The bar offers a pleasant atmosphere with a decent drink selection, and in the evening the lobby lounge opens with alcoholic drinks and light snacks — a nice way to unwind after a day of sightseeing. **Location:** The property faces Beppu Bay, yet the seaside feeling is limited — there are few walking areas nearby, and due to insects it’s hard to enjoy the open air. **Overall:** A good option for a calm, onsen-style getaway with decent food and polite staff, but when the hotel is crowded, the lack of facilities and outdated rooms become more noticeable. With some modernization and better infrastructure, this could be an excellent resort.

The hotel is very close to JR Beppu Station. The staff all speak fluent English, making communication a breeze. The room was clean, and the hotel was beautifully decorated. I'll definitely stay there next time. Free coffee is available all day. The breakfast is Japanese style.

HhswwThis hotel is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from JR Oita Station, to the left after exiting. It's also very close to Beppu. The bathroom features a separate wet and dry area, and the bedding is comfortable. The women's public bath has both indoor and outdoor pools. The complimentary ramen and ice cream in the evening are a thoughtful touch, and there's also water and snacks in the fridge.

GGuest UserThe hotel is conveniently located, about a 10-minute walk from Beppu Station, just down the alley from Takegawara Onsen. It's surrounded by restaurants, convenience stores, and shopping malls, and is close to the beach and Beppu Tower. Takegawara Onsen offers a sand bath, but I didn't try it again because I'd already tried it in Ibusuki. This is a very traditional Japanese-style hotel, with relatively large tatami rooms. The facilities appear dated, but they are very clean. There are no private showers, so you need to use the communal baths (sitz baths and hot springs). The hotel also has private baths available for reservation and a fee. Daily housekeeping is not included, so you need to leave your trash at the door each day, where it will be collected by staff. Towels and bathrobes are provided for the two days before your stay, and you can pick them up at the front desk if you need more. Since there's no room service, the bed isn't made, so you have to make it yourself. I initially thought it would be a little awkward, but it was surprisingly easy to adapt to. There is a laundry room, which costs 300 yen for unlimited use during your stay, but there are only two washers and dryers, and there's a queue during peak hours. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, answering all my questions. Breakfast is a set meal, and the restaurant staff are also very friendly. The meals are different every day during the three-day stay, which is a plus! Beppu is really comfortable and relaxing. I hope to have the opportunity to come again in the future~

AAnonymous UserThe hotel said it provides free shuttle from JR to hotel upon arrival at Yufuin with prior booking via email, but they didn’t reply email until you called them. Finally we need to walk to the hotel with our bulky luggages. During check in, we checked with the female staff in short hair whether we can book a shuttle the next day, and she said they don’t have this service. When I asked again why they said in the booking description that the hotel provided free shuttle if they actually didn’t, she kept saying ‘No’! When she explained the dinner arrangement, I told her one of our family members doesn’t eat beef. Then, she gave us a poker face and blamed us for not telling her earlier. However, the point is the hotel couldn’t be connected via email, and they didn’t specify that guests should have informed them the preferred meal before arrival. Except this female staff at reception, other service staff are polite and friendly.

AAnonymous UserThe room and the Onsen were EXACTLY like those in the listing and were absolutely stunning! The breakfast was delicious and the range more than adequate. The location is good if you drive but is about 1km walk to Beppu Tower and a bit more from the night street. But I’d happily trade that for the spacious room and the wonderful sea and sunrise view.

GGuest UserIt is far from Yufuin Station and you must take a car to get there. The hotel will provide pick-up and you can call them when you arrive at the station. The room is a bit old, but clean, and comes with a private open-air hot spring. The booking type includes the use of the family hot spring, but it's nothing special. Breakfast and dinner are both very rich, and the staff will come to the room to make the bed during dinner. Finally, the staff was very friendly and the experience was great 👍

KKsenia KrylovaA small, quiet hostel on a quiet street. Three of us stayed in a quadruple room. Clean towels and a trash bag were provided daily. The mattresses are soft, the pillows are high. I found the pillow a bit uncomfortable, so I had to remove it. The room has a stove, kettle, paper cups, and a refrigerator. The lobby has a microwave, plates, spoons, forks, a stove, a refrigerator, more paper cups, and drink machines (several types of soda, water, hot water, coffee, green tea, and corn soup). All drinks are complimentary. There are also shelves with manga and other books, a TV, and two game consoles. We didn't use them, though. There's also a small shelf with onsen essentials: shampoo, shower gel, cotton swabs, paper towels, and other items. These can be borrowed and then returned. The lobby also has information in English about nearby cafes and onsens. The staff speak excellent English and can help you navigate the city, such as choosing an onsen. The hostel has a self-service laundry: washing is 300 yen (40 minutes), drying is 100 yen for 15 minutes. I usually pay 200 yen upfront because nothing dries in 15 minutes. We didn't have enough mosquito nets on the windows: in the evening, we'd open the window to air out the room, and in the morning, we'd be counting the mosquito bites. The only consolation was that the mosquitoes were quiet and didn't bite, meaning they didn't interfere with our sleep.
