Taumeasina Island Resort
4.3/5104 Reviews
We stayed here at the end of our 8 day trip and all I can say was it was beautiful. Taumeasina was very busy (Mothers Day weekend) but that didn't stop the wonderful service we were welcomed with lei's and welcome drinks and escorted to our beautiful room (210) perfectly close but far enough away for some peace and quiet. I travelled with my Mother and 2 sisters and wished we had booked here first and stayed for a little bit longer. We also attended the FIA FIA night and that was such a good show and so fun. The only negative was not being having the best seat for FIA FIA night as we were located closer to the back and I think due yo the weather (rainging) they had set up under the shelter which from where we were seating was hard to see most of the show but from what we did see it was a beautiful show. We hope to be back again soon to enjoy the beautiful resort and its amenities. Fa'afitai lava
Tanoa Tusitala Hotel

The facility was clean and modern, but the shower didn't drain fully leaving a slippery puddle away from the drain hole. Housekeeping wasn't consistent. On separate occasions the mirror was left wet, the bins unemptied, the towel unchanged and the bed not made up properly. The programmable safe didn't open once locked, and the key card had to be reprogrammed to give access to the room. Once, while resting in my room in the early afternoon, someone tried to enter my room but the latch stopped them. I quickly checked outside, thinking it might have been housekeeping, but no one was there except someone - a burly obese island man in singlet, shorts and jandals - walking quickly around the corner. I believe it was another guest who'd somehow gained access to electronic access cards, and who was raiding other guest's rooms. It was after that incident that my key card failed to work, and I had to visit reception to get it reprogrammed. The staff were generally courteous and kind, but really only going through the motions to fulfil their role. No one stood out as loving the work they do. The egg station couldn't make poached egg. That had to come from the kitchen, and they had to boil the water first and it was an inordinately long wait. In a previous visit to Samoa, at a hotel in Savai'i, the egg station had a pan with simmering water for poached eggs, and they delivered poached eggs as quickly as any other style of egg. I visited other hotels for events around Apia on this visit. I'm now open to staying at other hotels after this visit.

Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey's Hotel & Bungalows
4.2/561 Reviews
We recently stayed at the famed Aggie Grey's Hotel. We had heard allot about its auto and history. From the outset the buildings look grand colonial, the lobby chic and classy. But the rooms have allot to be desired for especially when its supposed to be a Mariott property. We were placed into a room we never book, way below par, the aircon did not work, rattled, the TVS did not work, the phones did not work and when I took a shower there was no hot water. Small roaches in the rooms roaming about which was annoying. Food was ver average, heard down to the big Fale where they did breakfast and menu was ver limited as was the bar menu. Staff need a lot of training and they are very raw. Overall a very sad experience as we were looking forward to a five star experience, yet like most Hotels in Samoa we have stayed at we got 2 stars. Sad when the Hotel is named after such a famous Samoa lady in Aggie Grey.
Return to Paradise Resort and Spa

Nice hotel on a beautiful secluded ocean coast. Pretty spacious bungalow, clean enough. There is free wifi. Average breakfast: basic - free (pastries, cereals, fruits, coffee, tea) and paid eggs in different forms with sausage, bacon, etc. The hotel restaurant serves dinner. The beach is only suitable for snorkeling at high tide, as finely, a lot of coral and stones. And there are always waves of different intensities.
The Samoan Outrigger Hotel

Wonderful hotel, an old colonial house set in a garden on the outskirts of Apia (not really walking distance to town but an easy taxi ride), there are several types of room. Downstairs the rooms are modern and air-con, the advantage being they are cool, the disadvantage being that they lack character. Upstairs, however, the rooms are old style, fans rather than air-con (since they are not airtight...), delightful and with character, some with ensuite and (I think) some with shared facilities. If you stay upstairs remember that this is an old house and the floorboards creak...! In the garden there are fales, Samoan-style huts, all facilities shared, aimed more for backpackers. Generally, the place is well kept and clean, linen was changed regularly and both sheets and towels were in good condition and always smelt fresh. Our only complaint here was that the first day we had polyester sheets on the bed, which were very unpleasant, but we asked for cotton sheets and they were immediately replaced, so not really a complaint. The breakfasts are great, filling and different every day, and although there are no other meals offered, the kitchen (and the fridge) is available for guests to use, which is very useful if you're staying for a while (as we were, we were there for two weeks) and don't want to eat out every night. All in all, highly recommended, the staff are all, without exception, friendly, smiling and efficient and made our stay extra memorable. With an eye to some other reviews, remember that this is not a five star hotel, it is budget accommodation. Still, the range of rooms make it suitable for most guests, and particularly those staying for a while.
Insel Fehmarn Hotel

I recently had the misfortune of booking a hotel room through *******, and I must say it was one of the most horrendous experiences I've ever had as a traveler. Upon arriving at the hotel on the day of my reservation, I was greeted with the shocking news that they had no record of my booking. Despite providing them with all the necessary details and receiving a confirmation from *******, the hotel claimed to be fully booked and had no room available for me. Can you imagine the frustration and inconvenience of being left without a place to stay? I was left scrambling to find alternative accommodation at the last minute, and the only available option was significantly more expensive than what I had originally booked. I strongly advise anyone considering booking through ******* to think twice. Don't make the same mistake I did. Their incompetence and lack of accountability will only lead to frustration and disappointment. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for a reliable and trustworthy travel booking service. Note: This review is based on my personal experience and reflects my honest opinion.
Sinalei Reef Resort & Spa
4.4/550 Reviews
What a lovely relaxing stay in a beautiful setting. There were many positives, in particular the friendly staff, lovely rooms, beautiful setting and gorgeous evening meals. There was one negative: the taxi ordering service offered by Sinalei was unreliable. We had arranged with Sinalei, by email, for a taxi to meet us upon our arrival in Upolu and transport us to the resort. Even though we reminded them the night before our arrival they forgot to order a taxi. This just meant a half hour wait. However we also pre-ordered a taxi, through Sinalei, to take us to the airport for departure, and then reminded them 3 times. On the morning of departure no taxi arrived. No explanation was provided, we were just assured that it was ”on its way”. After 20 minutes we became insistent. Then a local taxi driver arrived - turned out there was a taxi company just up the road - shouted at the staff and apologised to us. Impossible to know what had happened behind the scenes. Just bear this in mind and perhaps make your own arrangement with the nearby taxi company.
