We were driving back to Beijing and decided to stop for a night in Hohhot. We're a group of three adults and one child, so I specifically looked for a suite or a room with one king bed and two single beds. After searching countless options on different apps (maybe I just didn't use them right), this was the only place I found that had what we needed. The price was quite high, probably due to the National Day holiday, but we figured we'd just go with it. When we arrived and parked in the underground garage, I was shocked by the mosquitoes, the smell of the grease trap, and the overall environment – I've never seen anything like it. The lobby was bustling, almost like the entrance to a shopping mall. The room had an older style of hotel decor, which I'm fine with. Once inside, I realized it was actually two rooms connected by a secret door that had been opened, essentially making it one large room. I feel like this should have been mentioned when I booked or at check-in. Also, the king-sized room had hot water for showering, but the twin room didn't have any hot water for a long time, though it was back in the morning. The breakfast was decent. Overall, it was okay; it's definitely a hotel in a bustling area with plenty of food and amenities right outside.

Let's start with the positives: The overall service, from the front desk staff to the cleaning aunties, was quite good. The location is also excellent, making it convenient to get everywhere. The room was spacious, and it even had a bathtub. Now for the negatives: There was only one duvet per room, with no extras, just a blanket. This isn't a huge issue, but the next morning, I woke up with fresh red bites all over my body and arms. I just wanted to report this to the hotel, but then 2-3 people came up, supposedly to solve the problem, and immediately asked, ”Did you go to the grasslands? These must be mosquito bites. Our duvets are disinfected, so there shouldn't be any problem.” I was speechless. First, we had just arrived in Hailar and hadn't even been to the grasslands yet. Second, if the bites were above my waist, would mosquitoes really bite me while I was under the covers? Do you change the duvet inserts for every guest? We didn't make any further demands; we just checked out and left.

Although they were all ladies, they slowly pushed the luggage cart down. If I hadn't asked to push the luggage cart to the hotel entrance, the staff would still be reluctant to help, but arranged for a security guard who was wearing thin clothes to stand in the strong wind. The security guard was very good and helped to get the luggage. In short: the hotel is not bad, and I hope the service awareness of the front desk staff can be improved.
