In the heart of the Canadian Prairies stands a fairy-tale castle seemingly transported from Europe—the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald. Since opening in 1915, it has witnessed Edmonton’s prosperous transformation from an "oil town" to the "Gateway to the North." 🏰 Castle-style architecture, reminiscent of old English manors 🌲 The hotel garden overlooks the Saskatchewan River Valley, a picturesque scene in every season 🎶 The sound of piano music echoes in the lobby, evoking the elegance of the early 20th century 💫 The Romance of History Named after the French explorer Macdonald, this Fairmont hotel is Edmonton’s most iconic landmark. A century ago, it hosted nobles, politicians, and artists; a century later, it remains the city’s "living room." The red brick and stone exterior, steep rooflines, and English manor style quietly tell the story of the city’s evolution. Here, it’s not just a place to stay, but a step into the city’s history. Sitting on the terrace reading a book, time suddenly slows down. The natural scenery weaves more than just moments of a journey— it feels like an encounter between art and life. Whether it’s the romance of the winter aurora or the passion of the summer music festival, Macdonald is the best starting point to understand Edmonton💓

Drumheller, also known as the "Dinosaur Capital," is a small town in Alberta, Canada, famous for its unique geological landscape and abundant dinosaur fossils. It's a bit of a hidden gem, but it's beloved by paleontology enthusiasts. Millions of years ago, this was a habitat for dinosaurs, and hundreds of dinosaur fossil species have been discovered here to date. It is home to the world-famous Royal Tyrrell Museum and the iconic World's Largest Dinosaur statue. The Cretaceous period was the era when the largest dinosaurs appeared. Many new dinosaur species emerged, dinosaurs still ruled the land, pterosaurs glided through the skies, and massive marine reptiles dominated the shallow seas. A large number of fossils from this period have been discovered in Drumheller, making it a hotspot for studying Cretaceous life. 📌 Here is a travel guide for the town of Drumheller: 1️⃣ Visit the world-famous dinosaur museum 🦕 Royal Tyrrell Museum 📍 1500 N Dinosaur Trail, Drumheller, AB T0J 0Y0, Canada The Royal Tyrrell Museum is one of the most famous paleontology museums in the world, dedicated to researching and displaying life from the Cretaceous period and earlier. The museum is renowned for its extensive dinosaur exhibits and archaeological research facilities. It displays a vast collection of dinosaur fossils from Alberta and around the world and is the only museum in Canada dedicated exclusively to paleontology. It even features the world's only discovered, well-preserved dinosaur skin, which is truly impressive. 2️⃣ Fossil excavation experience ⛏️ The Badlands landscape where Drumheller is located was formed by weathering, creating a dry environment and exposed geological layers, making it one of the best places to find dinosaur fossils. We joined an outdoor excavation tour (booking required in advance) to get hands-on experience with fossil digging. We learned firsthand how archaeologists discover and protect these precious fossils and even learned how to distinguish between ordinary rocks and fossils. I found it very interesting! After digging, you can randomly receive trading cards. I wonder how many projects you need to participate in to collect them all? 3️⃣ Visit the world's largest dinosaur statue 🦕 This massive dinosaur statue is a Tyrannosaurus Rex located in the center of Drumheller and is known as the world's largest dinosaur statue. 📌 Summer (June to August) is the best season to visit Drumheller. The weather is warm, and both the museum and outdoor attractions are open, making it perfect for outdoor activities. Spring and autumn are also options. I went in November, and while it was a bit windy, it was generally okay and less crowded. I recommend it for those who like to travel off-peak. Winter is not recommended, however, as the weather is cold and some attractions may be closed or have reduced activities. 📌 Drumheller is about a 1.5-hour drive from Calgary and about 3 hours from Edmonton. For dinner, I recommend Eastern Fortune Restaurant in Calgary. They stay open late, until 2:00 AM, and have a wide selection of options. Their late-night menu focuses on Chaoshan-style cold dishes, which is definitely worth a try. 😋 Eastern Fortune Restaurant 📍 416 16 Ave NE, Calgary, AB T2E 8K9, Canada

#easytravelpost Nahanni is roadless — staging from Fort Simpson (fly Yellowknife→Fort Simpson ~CAD 300, or drive 18 hrs from Edmonton). Park entry CAD 12.25/day or covered by Parks Canada Discovery Pass; backcountry registration mandatory at the Fort Simpson Parks office (orientation required for all overnighters). The realistic visitor options: floatplane day-trip to Virginia Falls CAD 600–1,000/person (group of 4–6 shares a Beaver, ~CAD 2,500–4,000 return charter), or a 7–14 day guided canoe expedition CAD 5,500–8,500/person. I flew Yellowknife→Fort Simpson (CAD 300), spent the night at a CAD 220 room, and took a 07:00 floatplane next morning — 90 min each way, landed on the river above the falls. Virginia Falls (Nailicho) is 90 m, twice Niagara, with Mason's Rock splitting the drop. The moss is on the north cliff mist zone: Schistidium and Racomitrium on limestone, 2 cm thick, black spruce behind, the spray fixing a rainbow for an hour at 08:30. I walked the 1 km portage trail to the lower viewpoint, camped one night at the upper portage site (free permit), ate a CAD 14 freeze-dried pouch, listened to the roar. Mistake: I packed a 40 L rigid suitcase — floatplane soft-duffel limit 20 kg, paid overweight; use a 70 L duffel. Another: "July = bugs gone" is a lie — headnet + DEET non-negotiable, no-see-ums ate me at 09:00. Would you fly 600–1,000 CAD for a Nahanni Virginia Falls mossy-cliff day-trip, or save two years and paddle the South Nahanni 7 days to earn the same falls from the river?

Throughout the entire World Cup cycle, the city launches a citywide "Summer of Soccer" campaign with two major official fan zones: the pre-game fan plaza outside Commonwealth Stadium and the covered fan tent in downtown’s Ice District. These fan zones run free live broadcasts of every World Cup fixture, paired with DJ performances, football interactive activities, and multicultural food trucks for visitors of all ages. Edmonton’s public transit offers completely free LRT and bus rides for all match ticket holders, connecting downtown straight to the stadium station without extra travel costs. West Edmonton Mall remains a world-famous highlight, packed with hundreds of retail shops, an indoor water park, amusement rides and aquariums — perfect for family-friendly leisure after outdoor fan events. Old Strathcona’s Whyte Avenue is lined with colourful murals, vintage boutiques and cozy local diners, great for casual evening strolls and street photography. 📝 Travel Tips | Food, Weather & Daily Plan Edmonton has warm, dry prairie summers during the World Cup tournament, with cool breezes rolling in after sunset. Light casual clothes are suitable for stadium visits and riverside walks; bring a thin light jacket for evening fan zone gatherings downtown. Don’t miss Edmonton’s signature local green onion cakes, savoury Ukrainian perogies and classic Canadian poutine, all widely served at sports bars and fan zone food stalls for groups of football fans watching match replays together. Stick to this football-centered one-day travel plan to hit all core highlights: · Morning: Join pre-World Cup fan activities and tour Commonwealth Stadium to experience national team match culture · Noon: Wander Old Strathcona’s Whyte Avenue and taste local green onion cakes and western Canadian street food · Sunset: Capture unique pyramid landscape shots at Muttart Conservatory alongside the river valley · Night: Join crowds at Ice District’s fan tent to watch live World Cup match streams ✨ Final Thought | Why Travel with Football in Edmonton Edmonton delivers a rare prairie-style travel-with-football experience for 2026 World Cup visitors. It hosts official Canada national team pre-tournament fixtures, operates two large permanent FIFA fan zones, and balances thrilling soccer energy with Canada’s biggest urban park and world-class indoor mall attractions. #kindnessontheroad Jasper National Park’s Dark Sky Festival is a bucket-list event for stargazers, and last October, I found myself lying on a blanket at Pyramid Lake, staring up at a sky so clear it felt like I could touch the Milky Way. The festival offers telescope viewings, guided night hikes, and talks by astronomers, but the most memorable moment came from an unexpected source: a retired teacher from Edmonton named Robert, who sat down next to me with a laminated star chart. “See that cluster?” he said, pointing to a smudge of light near Cassiopeia. “That’s the Andromeda Galaxy—2.5 million light-years away.” He explained how to use the Big Dipper to find Polaris (the North Star) and how Jasper’s designation as a Dark Sky Preserve means strict limits on artificial light—even the streetlights in the town of Jasper are shielded to minimize glare. Robert also shared a practical nugget: bring a red-light flashlight (or cover your phone’s light with red cellophane) to preserve night vision—white light ruins your ability to see faint stars for up to 30 minutes. We spent an hour trading stories: he told me about his annual trips to Jasper to track meteor showers, and I shared my awe at seeing the aurora borealis dance across the sky earlier that week. By the end of the night, Robert had gifted me his star chart, which now hangs above my desk. Have you ever connected with a stranger over a shared love of the cosmos? What’s the most breathtaking night sky you’ve ever seen?

YoYo_1I8Q7O5OWhite Avenue is a very important traffic artery, and it is also a place where you can enjoy a lot of beautiful city scenery. On this road, you can see some very interesting shopping areas, and it is very convenient to buy things. I really like the visiting environment here.
小思文Edmonton River Valley Park is a wetland park and also a very good natural area in the city. The fresh water resources here are very abundant. In the River Valley Park, you can enjoy many bird species and the number of plants is also very rich.
小思文The rivers are all frozen, and the children use "mobile beds" for rough access. Many places I want to go will not open until Early 2020, only the ski resort is open. [Value for money] The facilities here are complete.
