I was visiting relatives in Shanghai and didn't want to trouble them with arrangements, so I just picked a hotel close to Nanjing Road. I'm really satisfied and highly recommend it to everyone. Here's why:
1. **Excellent Location:** After a long day of exploring Nanjing Road, my partner and I were exhausted, so it was super convenient to just walk 200 meters back to the hotel.
2. **Outstanding Service:** The service was impeccable. Ms. Starry Cui at the front desk was so warm and generous, and another gentleman who checked us in was also very polite. They even upgraded us to a suite, which we really appreciate!
3. **Fantastic Food Options Nearby:** There are so many delicious places to eat close by, including white-cut chicken, yakitori, and Cantonese cuisine, all within 100 meters of the hotel. It was great to have a few drinks and then just head straight back to our room.
4. **Thoughtful Concierge:** The concierge was very attentive to the elderly in our group, which I really appreciated and added a lot to our positive experience.
5. **Classic 5-Star Room:** The room had a standard 5-star setup with a somewhat retro feel and a bathtub, which my partner absolutely loved.

We had been to the Shangri La hotel in Pudong before at Christmas for the afternoon tea and loved it so much we decided to spend a weekend here near Chinese New Year. The staff were friendly, breakfast buffet was amazing and the location right by the river with a view of the Bund is wonderful. The pool facilities are good, but inclusion of more amenities like a sauna or jacuzzi would make it even better, hence the 4/5 stars for amenities. Otherwise, we had a perfect stay. Highly recommend.

The front desk staff seemed inexperienced. When I arrived to check in, no one noticed me right away. I had to wait in line for two minutes before actively asking for assistance. (Though they seemed quite enthusiastic with foreign guests.) I redeemed points for a welcome fruit platter, but it wasn't delivered even after 10:30 PM when I returned from dinner. When I inquired, they told me I had to request it again – that it wouldn't be sent automatically. What's the point of redeeming it on the platform then? It took almost an hour after calling for my child's slippers and toothbrush to be delivered, and I had to call again after 11:30 PM to finally get them. I was already exhausted from a long flight delay at the airport due to weather, so it's hard to understand why even these small things took so long. Furthermore, they didn't even know the general directions (left or right) to the nearby W Hotel on the Bund, which indicates a lack of experience. However, the service staff in the breakfast restaurant were friendly and experienced, and the food was good – definitely recommend!

The room was spacious, comfortable, clean, and quiet. They even upgraded us to a larger room for free. The bed was incredibly comfortable. They thoughtfully provided both large and medium-sized slippers. The bathroom layout was well-designed and very new, with a heated mirror that kept it nice and warm.
The gym was well-equipped with fresh air, and while working out, you could enjoy panoramic views of the Oriental Pearl Tower, Huangpu River, and the Bund.
The lounge chairs by the pool were very comfortable, offering beautiful city views. The lifeguards were attentive and responsible, and the water temperature was perfect.
The New Year's Eve buffet dinner was an excellent value.
Breakfast was very rich and satisfying.
The location was superb, only a ten-minute walk from Line 2.
The doorman was very welcoming and proactively helped us with our luggage.
The cleaning staff was very considerate, only cleaning our room when we were out.
Overall, it was a superb stay, and I will definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Shanghai.

We brought our child for a staycation and decided to spend a full day at the hotel, so we purchased a voucher that included executive lounge access.
Upon check-in, we were upgraded to a super king bed, which was more than enough space for us and the baby, very comfortable. Our room also had a view of the Oriental Pearl Tower, which was fantastic.
The afternoon tea was just okay. I suggest moving the cakes from happy hour to afternoon tea instead, as happy hour was much richer with a variety of drinks. The main dish was freshly made noodles, which were delicious, along with various other snacks. The smoked salmon and ham paired with red wine were superb.
In the evening, we took the child swimming; the views were lovely.
Overall, it was a great experience. We had a very happy, super-short break! 😁

This hotel catches you a little off guard. When the car pulled up I thought I was in the wrong place. It gives very strong Air bnb/bed and breakfast vibes because that’s what it is. The ppl that run the place are very kind. The owner I assume, was very kind and very friendly. He went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. Even gave me cold medicine as I was struggling adjusting to Chinese fall weather and had a bad cold. The young man that worked evenings helped me order food and was a life saver because I had no way else to eat. The breakfast was minimal but tasty. Dumplings, boiled eggs and I think congee. I don’t like congee so I didn’t eat any. And I was always greeted with a smile from the lady cooking. The coffee isn’t great. Instant packets, very blah and nothing to drink really except water. There isn’t much nearby to do, it’s not walkable and so I would not stay if you’re looking for night life or convenience. But it’s a nice relaxing, quiet place to stay with a very comfy bed, nice tub, close enough to the airport and good shower pressure. I would definitely stay again.

Perfect location right in the heart of the shopping district, with an easy walk to The Bund. We arrived in the morning and were pleasantly surprised that our room was ready for early check-in. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room was spacious with thoughtful touches like complimentary wine and a cute plush toy. Breakfast was delicious with great variety. Overall, a very impressive and enjoyable stay!

A perfect stay from check-in to check-out! We were thrilled with the lovely room upgrade with an amazing view to Shanghai from every windows. The entire staff deserves special recognition for their exceptional courtesy and kindness—they made us feel incredibly welcome. The hotel's services were excellent, and the location was ideal for our needs, being both convenient and comfortable. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a top-quality hotel experience. We will return without hesitation!

I chose this Accor Mövenpick (the name is a bit hard to remember!) after comparing several hotels around the Shanghai Grand Theatre, where I was going to see the closing performance of Les Misérables' 40th anniversary. Many details made my stay very satisfying: the luggage service and front desk were both very professional. They offered a complimentary longan and red date tea from the bar, and since I didn't have time to drink it, I asked a staff member to pour it into my thermos and deliver it to my room. The toiletries in the room were Jurlique, everything in the room was very clean, and the drinking water was small bottles of mountain spring water.
The main thing is, I realized I'd forgotten my glasses after I left for the show (which essentially meant losing half the ticket price because everything was blurry). There was no time to go back for them, so I called the front desk and asked housekeeping to find them in my room. At the same time, I ordered a runner service to pick them up from the front desk, and they were delivered to the theater with just minutes to spare. The excellent hotel service combined with the speed of a Chinese delivery rider was incredibly moving – definitely a five-star review! My only regret is not getting to try their supposedly amazing ice cream; I'll have to make up for it next time.

I've stayed at this hotel multiple times, and each visit feels like coming home. The location is super convenient, and for Shanghai, it offers incredible value for money. The front desk staff are always warm and friendly, and their service is incredibly prompt. Any request I have is handled quickly, which makes me feel very well taken care of. The rooms are clean and tidy, ensuring a great stay every time. Definitely worth rebooking! 👍👍👍

AAnonymous UserThis was my second stay at the Waldorf Astoria, and this time it was for my birthday.
Upon check-in, the front desk lady was very pleasant, but due to a backend issue, we were given the wrong room type 😂. It caused a bit of a delay, but we were in a hurry to go out, so I just took the new key card and left. The bellboy who helped with our luggage was also very nice.
On check-out day, there were two ladies at the front desk. One was the same young lady who helped us check in the day before, and her attitude was truly excellent, no complaints – she had a sweet voice.
However, the shorter lady standing next to her had a contrasting attitude; she acted as if she was superior and couldn't be bothered. Do I owe you something? When we left, this shorter, older lady didn't even say goodbye. It was the younger lady next to her who did. Is this how the hotel trains its employees? 🙂 Such an attitude. If you don't want to work, just go home.
HHunter Jackson TonyI booked the Novotel Shanghai Pudong Kangqiao for my classmates visiting Shanghai this time, and the experience absolutely exceeded expectations – I have to give it a glowing review!
First off, its biggest highlight is the location. It's incredibly close to Disney! The hotel offers a dedicated free shuttle bus to Disney, which takes about ten minutes. This saves the hassle of taking a taxi or the subway, making it super convenient for those who want to get to the park early for queuing. Plus, the hotel also provides airport transfer services. My classmates were able to take the hotel's car directly from the airport, saving them the trouble of lugging luggage around and navigating, which was incredibly stress-free.
I booked a family room for the three girls, and the space was very generous, not at all cramped. The beds were also just the right size and very comfortable to sleep in. The cleanliness of the room was impeccable; it was spotless, which made their stay very reassuring.
The hotel environment is also excellent. The decor is modern and elegant, and the common areas are great for photos. My classmates mentioned that the lobby had a lovely fragrance, and the check-in process was very smooth.
I must give a special shout-out to the service here. From communication during the booking process to fulfilling various needs during their stay, the staff were responsive and enthusiastic. My classmates accidentally left something in the room, and when they contacted the hotel, it was quickly found and safely kept, which made them feel very reassured.
The only minor detail is that some facilities might not be the newest models, but they are very well-maintained and completely functional, not affecting the overall experience.
All in all, this was a very successful booking experience. Whether it was the location, room comfort, or service level, everything was impeccable. It's especially suitable for friends visiting Disney – highly recommended! If I have friends coming to Shanghai again, I'll definitely choose this place!
GGuest UserAbsolutely thrilled with my stay! The room was small, but I absolutely adored it. It was spotlessly clean, and the mattress offered the perfect balance of firmness and softness. They even provided a selection of both memory foam and cotton pillows, which were incredibly comfortable. While the room had a ventilation system, it lacked a window, so it could feel a little stuffy at times, but it was perfectly acceptable. The bathroom and shower were kept immaculately clean, which was very reassuring. The hairdryer was also excellent – I forgot the brand, but I'm seriously considering buying one for myself, haha! They provided fresh disposable towels, disposable slippers, and bottled water daily. Plus, the lobby offered complimentary lemon water and hot tea. However, there was no designated area to hang or dry clothes. If you're on a multi-day trip, it's best to pack enough outfits for each day.

Excellent
SSuoFlareI've never willingly given a hotel a perfect five-star rating, but this one deserves it. The location is absolutely fantastic, right above IFC and surrounded by major shopping malls. It's just a few minutes' walk to the Disney Store, the Oriental Pearl Tower, and the Bund.
Even though it's a 10-year-old hotel, you really have to stay here to understand just how incredibly well-maintained it is. The service is practically on-demand; they respond to almost any request incredibly quickly. While they don't automatically deliver takeout to your room, you can call concierge and they'll bring it up.
The hotel breakfast offers a good variety, and everything tastes delicious. 'Variety' is relative, of course – it can't compare to places that specialize solely in breakfast, but it's very good nonetheless.
I would absolutely recommend this hotel to any family or friends who need a place to stay in Shanghai.
MM441959****My stay at Banyan Tree Shanghai on the Bund was truly unforgettable! The hotel is situated right in the heart of the Bund, offering classic Huangpu River views from the window – especially romantic and soothing when the city lights up at night. The overall atmosphere is quiet and understated, with exquisite and sophisticated design evident everywhere, without a hint of ostentation. The bedding in the room was incredibly comfortable, leading to a deep sleep, and the subtle fragrance in the air instantly helped me relax. The breakfast spread was abundant, thoughtfully combining both Chinese and Western options, making every bite feel like a treat.
I especially want to commend Deslin and Vicky! They were both absolutely fantastic~ Deslin's calm yet meticulous professionalism was particularly impressive; every interaction made me feel valued, and everything they arranged for us was just perfect, leaving us with absolutely no worries. Vicky, on the other hand, was incredibly warm and attentive, excellent at anticipating little details. For example, knowing we preferred a late check-out, she proactively coordinated it for us. I felt completely looked after and cared for.
The service wasn't just formal politeness; you could truly feel their thoughtfulness and warmth. After my stay, my mood was uplifted. It's rare to find such a quiet and luxurious escape in Shanghai. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to truly pamper themselves or enjoy a slow pace with someone special~ Five stars plus one isn't enough; I'll definitely be back!

LLinyuxinqingThe hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, right by the Bund. From the lobby, you can see the 'Three Musketeers' of Lujiazui (Shanghai Tower, Jin Mao Tower, and Shanghai World Financial Center), and you just have to cross the road to get to the Bund viewing platform.
Since we were traveling with two young children, the front desk was incredibly helpful and upgraded our room, even including complimentary breakfast. It was such a warm and thoughtful gesture.
The hotel boasts its own restaurants and afternoon tea. The 22nd floor offers Huaiyang cuisine, and the 23rd floor is home to the Italian Magic Mirror Restaurant. Dining and getting around were super convenient. Plus, all the mini-bar drinks in the room were free, which the kids absolutely loved.
The front desk staff was very patient and showed us to our room, even providing welcome gifts like children's slippers and toothbrushes. All in all, it's a hotel definitely worth visiting and staying at. We'll definitely be back here on our next trip to Shanghai!
GGuest UserReceptionists are very helpful and polite. Room is very spacious and clean. Location a bit far from MRT (15-20mins walk) but overall is good location to stay. Nearby also have local breakfast and some cafe and restaurants.
GGuest UserWhen booking a hotel, I always pay close attention to the negative reviews. After a lot of searching, I decided to give this place a try. Even though some of the negative comments seemed quite exaggerated, its excellent location convinced me. And I'm so glad I did! This hotel is nothing like what the bad reviews claimed. Overall, the location, cleanliness, environment, and service were all top-notch. Being in the city center, it's truly a prime spot in Shanghai. During check-in, Oliver at the front desk recommended an upgrade to a deluxe suite, which I happily paid for. The room layout was perfectly to my taste. Oliver's service was also fantastic; he was very considerate and helpful throughout our stay, offering great advice and assistance. Thanks to his recommendation, we even discovered a fantastic hidden gem restaurant, haha! A big thank you to Oliver for his enthusiastic help. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time!
AAnonymous UserThis hotel truly offers great value for money! Fiona at the front desk was very enthusiastic and helpful, the room was clean and tidy, and the facilities were complete. The price was also very reasonable. Both check-in and check-out were convenient, and the staff were friendly, making me feel at home during my travels. If I come back to this area again, I will definitely choose this hotel. I highly recommend it to anyone on a budget who still wants quality!
