"The hotel's location is good. Although it's a bit old, it still has all the hardware facilities expected of a five-star hotel.
Let me focus on the most unpleasant service experience this time.
We booked a family room, which included three breakfasts. Our child had an upset stomach the night before and was throwing up and had diarrhea all night. So, in the morning, only the two adults went to eat, thinking of getting a takeaway box for the child. This is where the unpleasant experience began. The person in black, who seemed to be a supervisor at the restaurant, said that if we had already started dining, takeaway boxes wouldn't be provided (at this point, we thought we only had two breakfasts included). Later, after checking the order, we confirmed that the family room included three breakfasts. We went back to the restaurant reception to ask for a takeaway box, clarifying upfront that our room included three breakfasts and that we wanted to pack something because our child was unwell. Even then, the front desk staff said that after 6:30 AM, it's recommended to dine in, and takeaway boxes are generally not provided. She also claimed it was busy and she couldn't authorize it (even though there were no guests waiting at the front desk at that time) and that only the supervisor could approve it. I had to wait for her to call the supervisor over again before I finally got a takeaway box.
Throughout this entire process, both of them had cold faces and showed absolutely no service意识 (service awareness). This definitely deserves a negative review!!!"

"The hotel was originally three old Qing Dynasty courtyards that were relocated, restored, and renovated. They offer guided tours, and the brick carvings and shadow walls of the academy have a strong sense of history, creating a rich historical atmosphere.
The service was excellent; I experienced the business car airport pick-up, afternoon tea, and cocktails. I also tried the intangible cultural heritage woodblock New Year prints, which was a truly immersive way to experience local traditional culture – a rare treat! The game's silver notes could be exchanged for realistic replica silver notes, which was a pleasant surprise. In the evening, the old courtyard had a powerful ambiance, and I specifically got a makeover to take some amazing photos. Highly recommended, it was the highlight of my trip to Shanxi. The old Qing Dynasty kilns are now fully smart homes inside, making for a very comfortable stay. Ancient on the outside, luxurious on the inside, it truly provides an immersive experience of Jin merchant culture!"

"Had a fantastic stay! We booked the 'sky-light room,' which was very quiet, allowing us to sleep soundly until morning. The front desk attendant was incredibly warm and helpful; she brought ice packs for my wife's sprained ankle and even lent us a charging cable. "As an IHG member, when I visited Taiyuan for the first time, I didn't hesitate to choose the InterContinental. My experience, however, was a mixed bag.
On the positive side, the room facilities were well-maintained. The Bronze Museum was just across the street from the hotel, and the riverside environment was also pleasant.
For improvement, I arrived at the front desk around 12 PM, and was told that only one of my two rooms was ready, and the other was still being cleaned. I accepted this and went for lunch. An hour later, the second room still wasn't ready. Fortunately, a helpful guy at the front desk managed to sort it out, which was a great effort. What I want to say is that other five-star hotels in the industry usually have a guest services center or someone who contacts you beforehand to ask about your estimated arrival time and any special requests. While not a must-have, it's a bonus if they do, and a drawback if they don't when others do. Ironically, less than two hours after checking out, I received a call asking if I had any complaints. At that point, what more could I say?"

"During our road trip, we randomly booked a hotel near the Yongle Palace. As soon as we turned the corner on the way to the hotel, we were greeted by a breathtaking view of the Yellow River, a picturesque scene. We were pleasantly surprised! The hotel is nestled mid-mountain, facing the water and backed by mountains. It feels secluded and private. There's private parking, the front desk is attentive and comfortable, the housekeepers provide attentive service, and luggage is delivered to your room by electric cart. The rooms are fully equipped, clean, and the bedding is comfortable. Our single-family cottage has its own private pool, which the kids loved. We had dinner à la carte at the hotel, and I loved the large Yellow River carp dish. The kids, who usually don't like fish, were eager to try it. The water view in front of the reception hall in the evening was particularly beautiful, especially during the blues, making it a great photo opportunity. The breakfast was perfectly balanced and well-presented. Upon departure, the housekeeper politely said goodbye and thoughtfully provided some local snacks for the journey. Due to time constraints, we only stayed for one night, so there were many things we didn't experience, such as the children's activity center and swimming pool. It's a perfect place for a family vacation. I like this hotel very much. Next time I come here on vacation, I will book a room with a river view and bring my kids to have a good time for a few days."

The hotel is designed in the style of a traditional Shanxi compound, which is incredibly distinctive. It features multiple courtyards, each with its own unique ambiance, making it perfect for photos. The hotel offers a free 'young lady' (少奶奶) / Hanfu dress-up experience. We didn't pay for additional makeup and styling, but still took many great photos around the hotel ourselves.
The hotel's location is also superb. It's just a 2-minute walk to Food Street and Liuxiang Pedestrian Street, a paradise for foodies and shoppers. The former Governor's Mansion and Jinshang Museum are also within walking distance. Despite being so close to the hustle and bustle, the hotel itself is situated on a quiet alley, completely undisturbed by the outside noise.
The breakfast offered by the hotel was something we looked forward to every morning, eager to go and eat. It was a thoughtfully prepared, nutritious breakfast, very rich, and excellent in color, aroma, and taste.

"The hot spring homestay stayed at this time was a surprise! First of all, the location is super convenient. It takes ten minutes to drive from the city. The hotel environment is very good! The design is stylish, one step at a time, and the shots are blockbuster. The children also like it very much. There is a private ranch to feed small animals.
The independent hot spring pool in the room is very private, and all the fatigue of diving is swept away.
The service is nothing to say! The staff is particularly caring, the 24-hour housekeeper responds at any time, and the family is very satisfied.

Extremely happy with my stay here!
Room is very spacious and clean, and I was within walking distance to most of the attractions and restaurants.
The staff here are very friendly and they always went out of their way to make my experience in Datong memorable! I'm especially grateful because the manager showed me how to order food from local restaurants using my phone and get it delivered straight to my room!

Fantastic stay. Staff provided impeccable service and advice. The tour suggestions were on point and proactive (e.g. informing us that light showers were forecasted and they had readied umbrellas if we needed them). Most of the staff was fluent in English.
Rooms were clean and nicely appointed. Smart use of the different courtyards meant that rooms are very private and that, overall, it was very calm and serene.
The property is located centrally near one of the major intersections within the old centre and most points of interests can be reached on foot in 20-30 min.
If you are travelling with heavier luggage, then the hotel provides transport against an additional charge. The cost (150 RMB per way from/to the high speed train station) is well worth the money as you get dropped off just outside the pedestrian area (but within the city walls) a few hundred meters from the hotel and staff arranges for the luggage to be brought to the hotel. Taxis can’t drive that far into the old city.

Treasure B&B No. 7 Mansion in the Ancient City! The location is unbeatable, perfect for walking to all the major ancient buildings. It also has a free parking area, which is super convenient if you're driving. The room features smart home tech throughout, and the Serta mattress really helped soothe my back after a long drive. The bathroom facilities are high-end and spotless. The service is gentle and attentive, and breakfast includes authentic knife-cut noodles. The rooftop terrace offers an absolutely stunning night view of the ancient city. Definitely my top choice for accommodation!

The front desk staff were warm and attentive, making both check-in and check-out very efficient. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, with plenty of hot water, showing great attention to detail. The breakfast selection was rich and varied, offering both Chinese and Western options, and I was especially pleased with the made-to-order noodle station. The location is convenient, with plenty of dining and shopping options nearby. Overall, the experience exceeded my expectations. Guest UserSuperb! The front desk service and the staff who showed us to our room were incredibly warm and helpful, offering fantastic tips for exploring. Our room was spotless, the bedding was super comfy, and the 'kang' (heated bed) was huge – big enough for five! They even helped us arrange a private car and a really professional tour guide. The food recommendations were divine, and the restaurants near the hotel were also delicious. The location is perfect, making it easy to get in and out of the city. What really sets this place apart is that it's the only guesthouse within the ancient city walls with a grand seven-courtyard layout, very impressive! Even celebrities have stayed here and loved it. The in-house photo shoot service was also a nice touch! Breakfast was excellent, especially the handmade noodles – we each had two bowls! Overall, our entire family was extremely satisfied. An absolutely fantastic stay! 👍👍

The hotel has very spacious and comfortable rooms. The breakfast is only Chinese, but rich and plentiful. We can't comment on the location because we always took taxis to the attractions around Datong (the wooden pagoda, hanging monasteries, and the Yungang Grottoes), but right next to the hotel are plenty of restaurants and places to grab a quick bite. The staff seemed helpful, but no one spoke English, so we had to use a translation app, which wasn't always accurate, and communication was somewhat hampered.

FeliciaCTStaffs are friendly. The inn is situated inside the ancient wall town , which make it easy to walk around the town. The decor of the inn is very unique and i luv it. The only downside of the inn is no lift. But staff will help you to carry the luggage up. Highest floor is 3 levels.
