Basic but clean hotel. Check in and parking were great breakfast was really tasty and all allergens were displayed and we also were able to get gluten free toast. Location was great at the top of Windamere hill 30 minute walk into bowness. Residents bar wasn't open and the bar next door Orrests head was freezing. We came back up to the hotel in the night hoping to get a drink but the bar had closed earlier than the time advertised which was disappointing as there was no where else to get a drink.

A decent hotel with very old furnishing. But what it lacked on it, it more than recovered on its location which is right in the city centre with just 2 min walk from station and excellent staff. The room’s thermostat was not working properly so when I raised this complaint to the reception they promptly provided me with another room heater. The polite and helpful staff enhanced the overall experience

My wife and I stayed at Burn How for 4 nights. Immediately we found the staff most welcoming and friendly. The pleasant atmosphere was maintained at breakfast throughout our stay. The spacious room- with everything you might need- was part of a block of chalets set romantically amongst some beautiful trees. The Macdonald Old England Hotel is well situated, being just a stones throw from the lakeside and the shops in Bowness. The staff are friendly and obliging and the service matches their attitude. The breakfasts are fine, although the staff can sometimes be a bit slow in replenishing the tureens. We did not use the Spa, so we cannot comment on that. Overall, we found the hotel to have all the facilities that we were lookling for and we would be happy to stay there again.

We had one overnight stay while traveling South. Hotel was easy to find with use of Google maps. Plenty on site parking. Efficient check-in. Room was compact, but comfortable. Nice hot shower. Towels were provided. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, which felt a bit more like a pub with football on TV and a pool table. Not everything on the menu was available to order; although salmon and burger were lovely and plentiful. The waiter was very helpful. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, as we brought our own. Hotel popular with white van drivers.

First of all, the breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of options including fresh salmon, which was a nice touch. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, giving it a homely feel. The hotel is also in a convenient location, with a nearby bus stop that makes it easy to reach the main attractions in the Lake District. Overall, it’s a great value hotel with attentive service. Next door to Carlisle Railway Station on one side and Costa Coffee on other side. Several stairs to get up with cases. Single bed was surprisingly comfortable and surprisingly cosy. Small bath and shower - lashings of hot water. Breakfast adequate - a bit of everything. Bacon was dried out by 7.30am but sausages were delicious. Solid fried eggs on offer. Mainly tinned fruit with apple and yoghurt. Ubiquitous coffee machine…. Instant is better .. but they are all doing it. Juice and fresh milk on offer. Small selection of cereals. My room was cheap - noisy outside… the car park had replacement coach services… but worst of the swearing and shouting stopped around 1.00am. Hotel was warm and dry. A small lift for one with luggage. Staff were very kind - left my luggage in a locked room while I went to get my hire car. At half the price of similar low-facilities hotels I was happy enough. Might do without breakfast in future and go to Costa.

The lamb, calf and fish seen in the lake area are all delicious. You can also see a rabbit family in the hotel garden. It is indeed the hometown of Peter Rabbit. The Windermere Hydro Hotel is located in the center of the Lake District. The hotel is very nice, on a slope, the rooms are very clean, the breakfast is very rich, and the free parking lot is particularly recommended, which provides very convenient conditions for self-driving people

I’ve booked Low Wood Bay a few times but this was the first time using trip.com - we got an excellent deal and the customer service was brilliant from both trip.com and Low Wood Bay. There had been heavy snowfall so things were a bit up in the air with whether we would be coming or not due to road closures but the staff were brilliant. Thankfully we did get to come for the night and we’d booked the spa the following day. It is one of the best spas I have been to. The views are stunning. The hotel itself is really lovely, fantastic location, extremely clean and all the staff were super friendly. Will definitely be coming to stay again and can’t recommend enough for a relaxing break.

The room is very stylish. Our room was fine except for the street which was noisy. I especially recommend breakfast. You need to book with the front desk before 6pm the night before. It is freshly made in the morning and very delicious! You can't miss it. The hotel is in a good location, walking distance to the train station and Bowness.

The room can see part of the lake view and the surrounding environment. Very good, I especially like their afternoon tea, the tea set is very exquisite, and I look at it with great care! Part of the breakfast is buffet, and the main meal is à la carte, with a large portion and enough to eat! If you have children staying with you, you must tell the hotel in advance that the children need to charge a fee of £28.50/piece/night! This fee includes breakfast and extra bed. If it is not stated in advance, the fee will still be charged, but there will be no extra bed! Expresso capsule coffee is provided free of charge in the room, which is my favorite. Those who like coffee are very surprised!

It provides the essential services very well: comfortable bed; hot shower ( spacious, too), clean room. It is near clubs which is noisy in the night, but it is not something bothering me much. After closing the window, I fell asleep soon. I will ask for a room opposite next time.

The only downside was the boom booming of the music from the bar going on to the early hours.
