The views are absolutely stunning, and the rooms are very spacious. Although it's a bit of a distance from Takayama Station, there's a convenient free hotel shuttle bus operating every hour. Both the public baths on the 5th and 7th floors feature outdoor hot spring baths (rotenburo), and the male/female facilities switch daily. Additionally, every room is equipped with its own bathtub. Breakfast, served on the second floor, offers a wide variety of dishes. Highlights include the delicious Japanese breads, along with local specialties such as Hoba Miso, Hida Milk, and puddings. The hotel is also officially designated as a 5-star accommodation by the Japan Tourism Agency.

While the hotel shows its age a bit, the overall environment is fantastic, and it's kept impeccably clean and tidy. The tatami room was a big hit with the kids. The front desk had Chinese-speaking staff, and the service was excellent. It's conveniently located near Gero Station, with a hotel shuttle service available. The hotel boasts three hot spring baths, and after a soak, your skin feels incredibly smooth and soft. The town itself is beautiful, surrounded by picturesque mountains and clear streams, with foot baths readily available everywhere. However, it felt a bit deserted, as most shops were closed.

I never imagined I'd experience something like this during a hotel stay in Japan. We stayed for three days, heading out early and returning late each day as we were doing day trips to Kamikochi and Shirakawa-go. When we returned on the evening of the second day, a white piece of clothing I had left on the bed that morning was missing. My wife and I searched through all our suitcases, but it was the only item missing; everything else was accounted for. After thinking it over, my personal guess is that because it was a pure white garment, the same color as the bath towels, the housekeeping staff might have mistaken it for a used towel and removed it. I immediately contacted the hotel's front desk. However, due to the late hour, the front desk informed me that all the housekeepers had already finished their shifts. They simply took down the details and promised to investigate and follow up the next day. However, the next day, they never proactively followed up. When I went to the front desk to inquire again, I happened to speak with the same staff member. He merely apologized, but his demeanor made it clear they hadn't found it and had no solution. There was no mention of contacting me if it reappeared or offering any compensation. It was, in short, just a verbal apology without any concrete resolution. While it wasn't a valuable item, for a hotel to lose a guest's possession and then handle the situation in such a manner is extremely unprofessional. Ultimately, to avoid letting it spoil the rest of our trip, we just had to chalk it up to bad luck.

The location is incredibly convenient, just a 300-meter walk from both JR Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Terminal. What's amazing is that despite being so close, it's not noisy at all. It's an easy stroll even with luggage, which is a huge plus for travelers transferring. The hotel is quite new, and the lobby boasts an artistic design, making it a great spot for photos. The rooms are equipped with a table and chairs, and feel much more spacious compared to hotels in Japan's larger cities. It's also convenient to walk to the old town and popular sights for dining. If you head in the opposite direction, there's a large supermarket easily accessible via an underpass. The front desk staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. They even helped me resolve some minor issues I encountered during my trip, which was incredibly thoughtful. Check-in is from 3 PM, and you can store your luggage on the ground floor beforehand.

Awesome ryokan with history! Very convenient to get to the place. The train offers beautiful views of the Hida Valley, mountain rivers and cute villages, this already prepares for a super experience. The purple bus will meet you at the station and take you up the mountain. The ryokan is huge and consists of several buildings. And even if there are many guests in the ryokan, you will get a really calm and peaceful stay. The rooms are in a traditional style, each one is different from the other. The rooms are spacious and very beautiful. The windows open up to views of the mountains, the forest. The ryokan itself is like a labyrinth, you can wander through the corridors and each time find a treasure: private onsens, billiards, a rest room, a viewing site. I took a room with an onsen inside, and I never regretted it. It was wonderful to sit in my own onsen with a view of the mountains and admire the sunset. An unforgettable experience. The public onsen is also great. There is an indoor bath and an outdoor bath with wonderful decoration. The kaiseki dinner is also great. It is brought to your room. It is very tasty, entertaining and exciting. Each dish is elegantly served, served on the most beautiful tableware, which makes it equal to art. I only regretted one thing, that I did not stay longer. This day in the ryokan Yunoshimakan made my trip to Japan unforgettable! Thank you!

Checked in late around 22:00 & nobody was at reception , have to go through the hassel with machine. Location was 15min walk to morning market. Hotel is new, well equipped with washing machine & other cooling utensils, However room was heavily smell & couldn’t clear off till we checked out Room rate was nearly Yen30,000 for 3pax, room only without breakfast, which we think at the high side

The hotel's location is incredibly convenient, just a five-minute walk to the right after exiting the JR and Nohi Bus stations. Right next door is Ajikura Tengoku, a popular Hida beef restaurant. My tip would be to head there early to grab a queue number, then you can comfortably wait back at the hotel. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are a decent size, and there's even a hot spring bath on the top floor! The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this place!

Stayed there for two nights. In-room onsen was good, staff at reception excellent. Food was simply terrible. Rice was cold (personally it’s simply unacceptable in any Japanese restaurant except for sushi may be?), the chef seems to enjoy making fusion dishes (and except that they were unappetising). To name but a few, we had strawberry mousse for starter, tofu (which was bitter) and pickles with miso for mains, and who’d put diced apple in an apple sorbet?? (Felt as though I was biting into ice cubes). The waitress was also extremely impatient and rushed us through our meals (we finished our dinners within 35 minutes, breakfasts 20). I honestly cannot recommend this hotel. Sorry, but no.

NnaprasongThe location is good, not far from Takayama Station and the old town area. You can easily walk to important spots in the city, such as the Miyagawa morning market, convenience stores, and yakiniku restaurants. There is a parking lot for guests. The receptionists can speak English well. There is online check-in in advance, so the actual check-in at the hotel does not take long, although it can take a bit longer during busy periods. The room is quite spacious. Everything else is standard for a hotel. The hotel has a public hot spring bath with good quality water, but it was very busy during the time I went. The lobby downstairs has ice, a microwave, and a coin-operated water dispenser. The breakfast is varied and tasty.

OopirusGreat location! Turn right out of the building and you're at the train and bus stations. It's also not far from several popular barbecue restaurants. The facilities are comprehensive. The room is quite spacious, as it's a suite that can sleep up to 6 people, with plenty of living space. There's a balcony for fresh air, and the shower water pressure is excellent. It also includes an induction cooktop, a sink, and cutlery. However, the ceiling is a bit low, and there's only one toilet, which can be a bit inconvenient if there are many people. The room cleanliness is decent; the carpet isn't particularly dirty. I hope everyone takes off their shoes when entering. For stays of 3 days or less, they only do a basic tidy-up. Overall, the service is okay, and it's quite convenient if you're self-sufficient. After 10 PM, the front desk is unstaffed, but you can use your room code to open the main entrance.
