Such a WONDERFUL hotel I never stayed before. This is a new, eco, comfortable & beautiful place that I don’t want to leave. It is very suitable for any tourists especially for family, I will highly recommended & must visit again next time.
The room was very spacious, and the facilities were decent. The hotel staff were very friendly. There's also a private onsen available for an extra charge. You can buy lift tickets and rent ski equipment directly at the hotel, and the prices are slightly cheaper. The hotel dinners tend to be kaiseki-style, different every day but feeling somewhat similar. Breakfast is a buffet. Overall, it was pretty good, but the lack of a washing machine was inconvenient, especially since clothes can get a bit smelly after skiing.
Great location directly connected to Yamagata station. My room was at the South wing which seemed new. The room is on the small side for 2 adults but has everything we needed, was pleasantly surprised with the handy steam iron! There are 2 x coin laundry at South Tower level 2; vending machines; microwave oven. Ice machine on several floors. The front desk staff were helpful, they allowed us check-in before 3pm and helped make a reservation at Yamagyu restaurant, really appreciated their help. The location is really convenient with the taxi stand and bus terminal right in front. Lots of food options around it.
The hotel is in a good location. You can go to any attraction by walk. There is a dedicated parking lot near the hotel. The waiter was very attentive in explaining to us how to drive to and use the parking lot. The hotel lobby is beautifully designed. The breakfast is of good quality, rich and delicious.
The hotel provides a shuttle bus service, which is provided immediately. I originally thought that it only provides a shuttle between the Zao Onsen Bus Terminal and the hotel, but in fact, the hotel also provides a shuttle bus service when going to the cable car. I really appreciate this service! The hotel's location is great for skiing! The photo is taken outside the hotel gate; we booked a double room, but actually stayed in a triple room, so it was relatively spacious; in addition to the theme dishes for dinner, there are other all-you-can-eat dishes, so you will never go hungry, and the breakfast is also all-you-can-eat, which is impeccable; to sum up, if I go to Zao Onsen again in the future, I will still choose this hotel!
I made a reservation online, but wanted to change the number of nights I was staying, so I tried to change it online, but it didn't work out and the accommodation fee was automatically deducted from my account. I consulted the hotel, and they quickly handled the process, which was very helpful. Thank you very much.
The service was also polite, and I had a comfortable stay. The breakfast had a wide selection and was delicious.
If I had to say something, it would have been great if I could have seen the view from the hot spring on the 10th floor.
Unlike the usual traditional hot spring hotels, if you prefer traditional large, parking someone out to greet guests, get luggage, here will not be, and the surrounding environment is very general.
However, the mainstay is drinking from the moment of check in at 3:00pm until around 10:00pm. Free flow beers cocktails fruit wine throughout, free flow sake for dinner. Wine lovers must be happy, but the room is cluttered, maybe I stay in the cheapest double double room. Because when booking there are no beautiful rooms to choose from.
It's very conveniently located near JR Yamagata Station, with restaurants and convenience stores nearby that are open late.
The rooms are spacious, and the unit bathtub is also large, so the price is incredible.
The facilities are a little old, with the air conditioning and refrigerator not working well and the bath water temperature and flow not being particularly satisfactory, but since it was October, it wasn't a problem.
The walls and carpet have been renovated, and there is a new, large desk with many drawers and plenty of electrical outlets.
My only minor inconveniences were the lack of a kettle, the lack of electrical outlets by the bed, and the lack of a light above the desk, but that's what makes it a luxury.
The hotel is run by a small number of people, and the front desk is unmanned late at night, so if that bothers you, there are other hotels in the same price range, so please choose one that suits your needs.
Even if it's old, this hotel is recommended for people who want a spacious, affordable hotel close to the station.
After reading the introduction of this hot spring hotel, Zaimu Sakaeya Hotel was once a hotel in a logging camp and a timber wholesaler with a history of more than 100 years.
The entire hot spring hotel uses a large amount of logs for decoration and construction, which is very unique. The single room I stayed in was very new and very clean.
Breakfast is a set meal, and miso soup, tea, drinks, etc. are also provided. At this price, it's a great value.
Since there is no shuttle bus, it takes about 15 minutes to walk from Kaminoyama Onsen Station to Zaiki Sakaeya.
Review Petit Resort Hotel Der Barte
When we think of Japanese hotels, we think of Ryokan, but another type that may not be thought of as often is 'European-style guesthouses'. I happened to be visiting Zao Onsen, so I looked for a place to stay in this area. I think it was during the Chinese New Year, so it turned out that everything was full, so I ended up staying here.
Petit Resort Hotel Der Barte is a European-style guesthouse, not a guest house. It's more like a Ryokan, but in a more European style. The advantage is that it's right next to the Zao Skii Resort ski slopes. The atmosphere is nice, and the staff is nice. We can play ski right away (but if you want to take the cable car up, you have to pay the normal price). It's perfect for those who want to play ski. The disadvantage is that it's on the opposite side of the Zao Ropeway, and there are no Lawson, Family Mart, or 711 stores. So when you enter, it's like you're cut off from the outside. There's nowhere else to go, apart from Zao Skii Resort.
Overall, the accommodation is good, suitable for relaxation, but not very suitable for socializing. The food in the hotel is mostly alcohol and beer, but there aren't many snacks.

GGuest UserThe hotel is beautifully decorated in Japanese style. There is stunning scenery outside the window of our room. The dinner is surprisingly good with excellent service, well decorated dishes of tasty food. Definitely will stay here again in next visit to North East Japan.
