Bit of a mixed bag at this place but with some easy tweaks it could be perfection.
Good : Location, beach is clean, food is tasty, bar prices are good and Nas the bar manager makes a great cocktail, breakfast is plentiful and varied, pool is clean, sun beds, towels and paddleboards are available. Bioluminescence plankton is visible but you have to swim out away from the bright resort lights.
Bad : Room type Beach View Villa - Lots of mosquitos in the room as the bathroom is not sealed, would be good if they gave you a net for the bed and room spray as I got badly bitten overnight. Wifi is really bad, you only have 1 plug socket for the entire room which isn't next to the bed, the lights are either all on or all off (the wall lights are decoration apparently so aren't wired up) and again the switch isn't near the bed, and you have nowhere to hang clothes or swim wear to dry, a line or rack would be really useful.
Basically without tweaks the beachfront villa are overpriced.
The staff were incredibly helpful when trying to resolve issues. I would return but would book a Sea View Room which are slightly cheaper, sealed and had great WiFi.

There are so many good things about this place, I don't even know where to begin! They allowed us to check in early, and the staff at reception spoke fluent English and were incredibly friendly. The complimentary iced juice was also delicious and refreshing 🍹. When we got to our room, we were surprised to find a thoughtfully arranged small crab on the bed and a pandan leaf folded into a 'welcome' message – such a delightful touch! 😌
As a sea-view room, the beautiful scenery right outside and the clean, white sandy beach are almost the least of this hotel's advantages. Within miles, there's no place with better facilities or more stunning, pristine sand. The hotel's swimming pool is also top-notch and beautiful, with clean water, showing how well it's maintained. During the day, you can book a spa (not free), and it's incredibly therapeutic and peaceful, accompanied by the sounds of waves and birds. The therapist was gentle and attentive, even proactively applying herbal medicine when she noticed a wound on me 🌿. The hotel offers free paddleboards and glass-bottom boats for guests to enjoy. In the afternoon, there's also an hour-long surfing experience. The instructor, Anthony from the Philippines (I think that was his name, sorry I can't quite recall 🥲), had such a great attitude and was an excellent teacher – patient and enthusiastic. I actually learned to surf in just one hour! 🤣🤣
Regarding meals, breakfast is a buffet. Nothing particularly outstanding, but the variety is rich and the taste is good, pretty standard. I feel like a à la carte system would offer a better experience. For dinner, we booked a BBQ at the hotel, and there was a lovely singer performing. Even with few guests, she sang for us with great dedication 🎤. We were truly grateful, and it's worth highlighting that her skill level was incredibly high – she sounded amazing! 🥰
All in all, beautiful scenery, wonderful people. Golden Beach, you're awesome! I'll definitely choose you again next time! 😍😍😍

We stayed in “Eden Beach Resort” and want to share our experience.
Location is good because hotel has private pier, where the boat will take you from/to Sihanouk Ville. It was comfortable. I was impressed by the hotel green area as well 🌴
The hotel has their own water purification system, we drank tasty and fresh water everyday from reusable glass bottles.
Unfortunately we had some inconveniences in the hotel during our stay there.
Check in was a long time. We arrived on island 11 a.m. and waited check in 4 hours, 3 p.m. When we asked about a breakfast, we were told that breakfast not included this day, although previous hotels often went to meet us, and it was pleasant. Breakfast costs 12$ per person. Breakfasts was tasty but after few days I tired from it.
I would like to pay your attention with strays. Cats and dogs were in diner zone, they are they itched and got in the way. It made Unpleasant impressions.
I also want to say about some disadvantages about cleaning up rooms. In the morning time, when we spent time on the beach, our room wasn’t clean. If we went to walk, we asked the staff about cleaning our room. One day we didn’t ask about cleaning and we were left without cleaning 🤷🏾♀️
There were 4 towels in the room: 2 big towels, 2 small towels, which for face and hair (I think) but we used this towels for feet because there were no extra towels.
Totally staff working is good. Especially was pleasant administrator from Russian (as well as I remember Alex, but I can mistake). He helped our friends immediately (they had a problem with a safe and ordered double cleaning room because there is a lot of sand).
What about attractions?
The beach is good, near the hotel is clean but you should be ready for sand flyers. Oh Jesus! We were fully bited by them. Therefore our skin was swollen.
At the hotel you can rent a kayak. One day we paid 5 $ per hour. Then we were explained that it is necessary to pay only if there is the queue.
During check out we were waiting checking the rooms about 10 minutes. It’s not good 😁 a lot of more hotels refused this process.
Our final review.
Despite the some disadvantages our weekend in this hotel left a good impression. Place is beautiful, good, calm. There is a small work to improve the part of the service and cleaning, as well as control of the state of the territory and animals.

Anonymous UserWe super enjoyed the breakfast. It was raining hard for 2 days when went that’s why the kids were sad not swimming in the main pool and the beach but there were lots of things to do indoors. They have a playground, pool, table tennis, dart and football table so the kids weren’t got bored. They also have the rent a bike which we wanted to try since the place is big and it is nice to explore but the weather didn’t permit us. It has been our 6 times in this hotel. Our favorite go to hotel resort there at SHV. By the way, they have another pool which is also nice.

What I liked:
The excellent, comfortable bed and pillows, pristine white linens and towels.
The hotel staff contacted me in advance and helped me book ferry tickets and a car from the pier to the hotel.
The hotel restaurant served quite delicious dishes. Breakfast was also very good, despite the limited selection.
You can use paddleboards for free at the beach. Snorkeling from the shore was also decent; we saw two cuttlefish.
The beach is a dream, with one small caveat. There were always enough sun loungers.
What I disliked:
The beach was littered with plastic remnants from the sandbags used to reinforce the shoreline.
One evening, we ordered a bottle of Prosecco at sunset. The waiter opened it and threw the foil directly onto the sand, shocking us with such disregard for this beautiful place.
Another morning, guests at the neighboring table on the beach had Coke brought to them. By lunchtime, no one had come to clear the glasses and cans. By sunset, the same cans were still lying on the sand; the glass cups, however, seemed to have been collected.
There were also many disappointments with the room: everything was shoddily done, built in a hurry, the furniture was stained with paint, the rug and hat in the room were torn, and in the huge shower, there wasn't a single hook or towel holder. There's also no shower curtain, so the toilet was always wet. Half of the light switches didn't work, and the switches by the bed were swapped. When you leave the room and take the key card, the light above the entrance also turns off, making it quite an adventure to return in the dark and climb the stairs. There's a refrigerator, but it didn't work, and this was the case in two different rooms.
At the entrance to the bungalow and the restaurant, there are hoses to wash sand off your feet, but none of them worked. My husband took one apart and cleaned it, and then it worked.
Conclusion: With proper management and care, this place could turn into paradise.
Things to be prepared for:
In the evenings, there are many mosquitoes or gnats on the beach; they bite hard and itch for a long time. Repellents are essential.
Within walking distance, there's only the neighboring cafe and nothing else. This could be both an advantage and a disadvantage for some.

CharJayWe loved Sara Resort. It is a little basic, but of course you are on an island and it has everything you want for a relaxing stay. The free pick up and drop off from the boat is great, otherwise it would be a bit of a walk from the pier. The bbq is amazing.

Guest UserThe hotel is beachfront with a small pool and its own private beach. The breakfast was good and quite varied. However, the room was a disappointment; its layout and design were very poorly executed. There's practically no door to the toilet; the glass door doesn't fully close the opening, so you can hear everything throughout the room. Plus, the small sink and lack of dental kits were frustrating. The only upside was the large balcony. The gym is small and poorly equipped. Overall, I felt the price was too high.

The hotel breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of choices. Our sea-view room was spacious and offered a great ocean view. The pool was large, and the hotel's kids' pool facilities were well-equipped, making it perfect for families with children.

Anonymous UserOne of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in Sihanoukville!
Otres Beach Hotel exceeded my expectations, especially when it comes to cleanliness. Whenever I check into a hotel, the first place I inspect is the bathroom, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was spotless, had no unpleasant odor at all, and even the towels smelled fresh and clean.
The bed and pillows were also immaculate, with crisp white linens that made the room feel very comfortable and inviting.
The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile, making our stay even more enjoyable.
Breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious options, so there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Another thing I loved was the location. The beach is just a short walk from the hotel, making it very convenient to enjoy the sea and the beautiful surroundings.
Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Otres Beach Hotel. If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, and welcoming place to stay in Sihanoukville, I highly recommend it. I would definitely stay here again!

Not worth it!
The stuff is really amazing and helpful, however the place is not worth visiting. The nature, beach and activities are below average and do not match the luxury price the resort is charging. It is also near to a kinda port so you will see cargo ships passing near the island. You can see rubbish floating in the water around the island as well.
The food is also average and overpriced. A papaya salad cost 20USD. For comparison it worth 2.50USD on the mainland.
Another example, the resort car service ask 90USD for 30km ride. For comparison, the taxi from Phnom Penh to Angkor Wat with a distance of 320km worth 80USD.
On my personal opinion, there is noting much to see and do on the island, and definitely nothing that justify the price.
